its a 5hp Briggs, that ive just serviced at my business (new oil, filters, sparkplug, blade sharpen) These Bolens, of what ive heard fetch around £60-£75 so cheap for what they are Regards Joe the handle is the same on mine to adjust, its also a front wheel drive with a pulley under the front cover.

Here's a mid to late 80s model, I think was made while GardenWay still owned them, before MTD. BTW, the handle in front adjusted the front wheels.

Here's a couple from the 1960's. I believe Bolens started making a mulching mower before 1960. These were called the Orbit Air, and they are very collectible.

I have a feeling that there could be quite a few Bolens push mowers over your way, but many may have been overlooked if not still carrying the decals.

I guess the wire fencing is your wife's way of making sure you don't escape until the digging is finished.

    Andrews Bolens Rideamatic

Well I collected the Bolens late this afternoon after enduring a gruelling day drive through horrendous weather from Devon to Kent. Absolutely shattered and I have to say I am well pleased with the work on it too. I also collected the Huffy Broadlawn which I bought a while back.

Hi all, sorry for the inactivity, been busy and not had so much workshop time, but I have been slowly but surely working in the Westwood. I sent the carb to be cleaned by a friend of mine, that should be back soon and hopefully the Westwood will be usuable For now I painted the whole chassis and bodywork with Owatrol oil, the only bits I left untouched were some corners underneath that were hard to reach coated in oily grass anyway I also straightened out the steering wheel, rustproofed and painted it, and some other little ajustments here and there. And yes, I managed to spill Owatrol oil over one of the rear tyres I'll look forward to being able to use it for gentle garden work this spring.

Those were great old push mowers, very well engineeered.

Some photo's taken on a visit to the above. This Caterpillar combine below, has to be seen to be believed. Absolutely gorgeous. Something for the Ransomes boys. This strange thing is a cutter chucker for making silage. If you look closely at this Leyland you will notice it's all cut away.

    New workshop

Got another wall plastered and some more sockets and lights in on Friday night. Next jobs are the big front doors and some insulation in the roof, the weather has turned and it's pretty cold and misty most days on the edge of the moors.
