It feels like i have been cleaning and sanding parts forever, but eventually got to the point where i could start to blow on some paint. Made a bit of a spray booth out of the frame of the gazebo and a couple of sheets. Didn't want the workshop covered in over spray. The Wheel horse now has something that it never had from the factory, primer!

    More finds at John's.

Your right Nigel, going to Johns every Tuesday over the past year has been the best day of the week for me, we've found a lot of stuff and had great fun doing it. Life won't be same when it comes to an end but will leave me with a lot of fond memories. In the mean time roll on next Tuesday

I picked this CASE trailer up in Union, New Jersey (close to 2000 miles from me) for 100.00, it cost almost that to ship it to I.T., no matter. It has a 1" axle, stake sides, these are not very common, so I had to add it to the stable. Also went onto the Osage Indian reservation and pulled this 56" Wheel Horse dozer blade out of the weeds, 150.00 for the blade and I still have my hair.

A few photos if the tear down. Its surprising how quickly these Wheelhorses come apart. Someone must have had a problem with the belt slipping at one point and made up a couple of crude brackets. The rear most one was actually wearing away the back of the belt. That Kohler engine is one heavy son of a bitch. They are certainly made to last. The Wheelhorse has been painted at some point in its life and after the engine was removed i found a patch of the original paint, which was quite pink to my surprise. Most of the information i have found about paint colours say to use International Harvester 2150. The closest i can find, going by what was under the engine is Ral 3001 signal red. Now the work hard really begins, cleaning, sanding and painting.

Don't think a jiffy bag would be strong enough, but Chris could deliver with his Royal Mail Red Sprinter van. If he leaves now he should get to you before the fall. I'm off to now before he see's this.

I think there are some bits or handles missing from the lifter, but if you send it by post to Oklahoma this fall I will try it out and let you know how well it works

A plough for my mate Nigel

Nigel has been asking me to find him a plough and today i found this. Its a nice hand operation tool that needs a bit of tlc and some paint, it looks quite old and should help him lose a bit of weight 😀😀😀

    More finds at John's.

Its just mind boggling the stuff john has collected over the years, I bet there isn't any where in the country that you could find a collection like john had, the man is a legend.

I hope for Nigel's sake that the clay soil is not rock hard this year at RPT!

    A day ratching.

Jonathan, (expeatfarmer), asked me if I'd like a trip out to a local scrap/reclaim merchants. Object of the exercise was to see if he could find some pallet racking and have a ratch about. We had a good day and visited two reclaim places and another that sells/breaks mowers etc. Unfortunately no suitable racking was found. But we didn't return empty handed. At the first place I got two short window sash weights to hang on my plough. Nothing at the second, but at the third we both got items. I'll leave Jonathan to say what he got. I got this roller. 10" dia x 37" wide. Will require modifying to make a ballast roller and a frame made. At the place I got the roller, we asked about Wheel Horse wheel weights. "I had some", he said. "But couldn't sell them". "I think I threw them in the scrap, but I'm not sure". We had a search around but no weights to be found. Not surprisingly really, with stuff buried under more stuff. He's going to have a look and let us know if he finds them. Here's hoping.

Working the Ariens and Allis Tractors

I'm the highest spot in this part of the county, it seems the wind averages about 25 mph every day, but I'm sure its not that high, although last month we had several days of 40 mph+ winds. and its been 15-20 mph for a week.

I would try to find something bigger, and a tandem, even if I had to make it. something like the Brinly I have on the Ariens or the Cub Cadet tandem disc , or a cut down section of farm disc. The extra width and second row will really mulch things up.
