4 pointsAs Jonathan, (expeatfarmer) was not going to be able to attend the HVC ploughing match this year, he kindly offer one of his crawlers and a plough, to anyone who wanted to enter. I kindly accepted his offer and volunteered my mate Dunc. Never having driven a Ransome before, though many other agricultural machines, we met at Jonathans last Monday so Dunc could have a drive and see the plough he would use. MG5 imported from the south of France along with the three furrow plough hanging on the back. You'll notice, now I've told you, the plough at the rear is off set by about 2". Why?, you ask. Haven't a clue. We collected tractor and plough today and took it to Dunc's for a bit of practice. Neither of us having any idea of setting things up. The afternoon was spent freeing things up and with much debate, a couple of trial runs. More will be done tomorrow or Saturday, depending on the weather. Below are some shots of the plough.

That sucks to see all those problems with an old K90. Not too many of those around over here let alone over there. The head with the curved cooling fins is from a K90 and straight fins are a K91. The exhaust port for that replacement engine can easily be threaded with 1/2" - 14 NPT tap to fit 1/2" NPT pipe. Original Wheel Horse spec engines used 3/4" pipe but the 1/2 works perfectly fine. Hard to tell from the pics which size pipe you have but it looks like 1/2", I'd imagine NPT pipe is an American thing so not sure what access you guys have to it. https://drillsandcutters.com/1-2-14-npt-carbon-steel-pipe-tap/?utm_medium=googleshopping&utm_source=bc&gclid=COPwl5GG4NICFQS2wAodSfcKxw Let me know if I can help with shipping pipe parts if needed. -

I looked at one of those a few weeks ago and decided it was too big to go behind a wheelhorse -

A trip to Ardingly this morning to have a look at what was on offer and drink tea with Mr Showman... Chris saw two Kohler engines but they were still attached to Howard 350 rotavators, one made £120 the other £170. I bought nowt. (apart from lots of tea and a breakfast roll) -

A very enjoyable way to spend a Saturday morning, plenty of banter and cups of tea. And better still I didn't buy anything. -
1 pointThanx for that information John, I have had a look in the Wheel horse dungeon n I have three other potential donors , one. Of which I bought off of Joe Papke from Michigan USA , it was bought as a spair for my RJ 58 but it could be used and does have the threaded exhaust section but it will need to be painted . So I think we may be able to solve the problem ,as for the old engineers concerned,we could use the shnake pull on new engine & I could do with a new paper weight anyway.

1 pointHi chaps, just returned home from Snowdonia , I have a couple of pics of the K91T engine that I have , I have never tried the engine but it has been repainted by previous owner who was also a Wheelhorse fanatic ,it has very good compression and I don't see why it shouldn't be a good doner aperture from the exhaust doesn't have a thread in the exhaust outlet so I'm not sure if the exhaust pipe that you have would fit . It would be a shame not to keep it as original as possible . I will take a look today at the other engines that I have to see if they would be more suitable

1 pointI think Ian is trying to be very mature here with his description, he's my take on it. ITS BEEN A BASTA-D two weeks we have been trying to sort this engine it's been hour after hour spent on it we have thought a few times that it was sorted it would run nice then it wouldn't, it's a pig, course I got the hump with it wanted to destroy it quite a few times but typical Ian would say calm down dear ave a coffee and a smoke, so I had coffees I smoked, now my eyes feel like they on storks and ime wheezing like I've got emphysema and the bloody engine still don't go, hay ho tomorrow's another day 😏

1 pointThis one is a bit of a work in progress, so it may be sometime before it gets finished. So, started of with half a rolling chassis from a Yardman AN5175. After a couple of hours cleaning and stripping it looked like this. Removed rear section of chassis as it isnt required, found a 12hp engine to power it and a 42in deck. The white masking tape sections are where the out riggers will go to carry the wheels. The yellow handle is where the drawbar will go. One of the out riggers attached and a lift handle to adjust the deck height made. This is as far as i have got. The swan neck is fully adjustable to allow transporting behind the tractor or cutting to the side. Next step will be to find a garden leaf vacuum to help blow the grass up the delivery spout. Mount a battery, make a dash pannel, get a better fuel tank, and tidy it up a bit with a few body pannels. Well that it for now, might be a while before any more updates as im having problems finding a leaf vacuum at a decent price.

1 pointToday I collected this rather sorry, engineless Huskvarna. Straight of the trailer and onto the bench. Started on it at 2pm and by 6pm I had the parts I want. The gearbox is a 6 speed and I believe you can change on the move. The wheel is being stubborn to remove, so has been give a good does of releasing fluid.

1 pointNot much progress to show as i am having a few problems finding a blower/leaf vacuum at a reasonable price so this project will have to be put on hold, in the mean time i have started to collect parts for my next build. See topic "Ploughing tractor build".
