    Monkey jack.

I have both the money jack and monkey winch and they are fantastic bits of kit. This is the first time I have seen another one. The monkey jack came with an extension bar and spreader plate, neither of which I have. Give me a shout if you get stuck on anything and in the mean time I will see if I can find some pictures of mine. Iain

    Monkey jack.

I was given this a couple of days ago, just assumed it was an old tractor jack. Last night I cleaned up the makers name cast into it. A quick search has shown that Trewhella bros' were an Australian firm (who also produced the Monkey Winch) and it was originally designed for jacking out tree stumps. I'm not sure how old it is, and, as it is seized, I'm not even sure how it works! Still, a nice little thing that I'm happy to have.

    East Coast Truckers convoy

Apologies for being off topics however this is a really great charity event. If you are in Norfolk this weekend this is worth a look, where else will you see a convoy of over 80 trucks. Some details here https://www.great-yarmouth.co.uk/Great-Yarmouth-East-Coast-Truckers-Annual-Convoy/details/?dms=3&feature=1001&venue=0096899 and our videos from last year's event

After having a chat with an exhibitor at the Smallholders show i thought i had a chance of getting rid of some more stuff out of my shed and freeing up some space. He asked me if i had a plough I could help him out with , I told him i had a choice of 4 and to come and have a look. He arrived and picked one but when it came to payment he offered me a mower as he was short of cash so at the end of the day I've ended up with no cash and less room than when i started , . He told me that he'd had it a number of years and it had always been dry stored and that it hadn't run for a couple of years. After cleaning out the fuel tank and the filter in the banjo fitting it started with the second kick, needless to say it took off up the garden and i had to run to catch it up. . It runs real sweet and cuts what's left of the grass, I don't think Pam's to impressed with it when I said I'll keep it for her to use but it gave her a laugh watching me running round the garden clinging onto the handles. Heres some photos, and info greatly received.

    1966 Bolens 850

I’m going to get it all stripped and cleaned then test the parts as this has the magnito system rather than the normal coil . I’ll jump onto there site and have a good look I’ve found the correct wiring diagram it’s the early one with the magnito . I’m aiming to get it ready for Easter next year . I’m 99.9% sure the engine will run so im not too worried about that . I’m not going to go through everything getting it all cleaned up and working then I’ll strip it back down for full paint .

HI Scott, It looks like the ignition switch may have been replaced too although don't take that as gospel because I have not come an early 850 like yours. Regulators are not that expensive and you can even buy a compelete new wiring loom, although you will need to make sure it will suit your tractor. The wiring diagram (and parts manual) I sent you is for a 192-02 so it would be worth asking the folk on GTT if anyone has a wiring diagram and parts manual for a 192-01. I found the beest parts suppliers are Rick and Brian although if they don't have the parts give Justin a look (www.tubeframes.com). I am not sure about your timescales on this project but I have two 850's of similar condition, that at some point I am planning to make one good one from. I am sure I will have lots of extra parts. That is interesting as it is not where I expected it to be, although it is a far better location because you have the space to fit a modern equivalent if it is broken.

A lot of the early American cars had a similar jack in the tool kit that just hooked under the bumper ( when they had big chrome bumpers). Pm me your address Iain

Wow. Chris, I don't suppose I could have a copy or borrow it to make a copy? Found my pictures. It looks like my monkey jack is a 10 ton version, I didn't realise they made different version. First picture also shows a high lift jack for comparision
