    Merry Tiller Titan

Hi, my latest purchase from that well known internet auction site, a 1971 Merry Tiller Titan, the type with internal gears giving 2 forward and 1 reverse speeds, doubled up with the 2 pulley sizes. It had been stood for several years under a sheet but with a clean of the points, a new carb diaphragm and freeing off a stuck exhaust valve it fired up and sounds very good.

    How daft do I feel.......

While at the Ardigley show last year my GT14 died on the way into the parade ring & I had to get towed round the ring then back to the exhibit area. Thinking it was something serious ,I didn't want to delve into the tractor until I got her home. At the end of a gloriously hot weekend & a great show she was pushed back onto the trailer & headed back to Somerset. After being unloaded at home I didn't have the heart to see what the problem was as I feared it was going to heartbreaking news . She has sat quietly ow for nearly ten months waiting for me to build up the courage to see what the problem was., I pushed her out onto the lawn & charged the battery for an hour then armed with spinners I decided to go for it. Right, I will just start by trying to turn her over to get any idea of what might be the issue. Turned key, vroooooooom , she stated first time ,,,that's odd... I started to look her over then looked down by the fuel tank & noticed that the fuel tap had wound himself shut by vibration. As you can imagine I was delighted that it was nothing serious , so instead of spending hours trying to sort out a problem I spent the time getting reacquainted an gave her some TLC. So now I know to get into the habit of turning fuel tap on & off after each use. Here a a few pics after the TLC

    road registering a C121

Unless you have a valid ID then toro can't help you. I've road registered two now and it's been relatively easy, but then local dvla offices have closed and I think it might be harder to get an age related plate. I think getting a C-121 plate is easiest, though in reality I doubt anyone would check. Though for age related they send you to a guy on the other forum in Lincs. He couldn't actually do anything so I went direct to Toro and they sent me a nice letter that I used. Good luck!

Hi Anglo Traction, Thanks for your support with this issue, now my engines works perfectly and starts everytime The problem was that in the past someone had oiled/greased the bearings on the inside of the clutch assembly. This is how i fixed the issue. 1. Fig. 1 shows the assembled engine. Fig.1 2. Fig. 2 remove the ouside casing by removing the 3 bolts (1 on the top of the casing, 1 bottom right and 1 bottom left). Fig.2 3. Fig. 3 remove the mesh cover by removing the 2 small bolts. Fig. 3 4. Fig 4 remove the cluch plate. Tip: Place small container under the clutch plate to catch any falling bearings Fig. 4 Clean bearing, spindle, clutch plate and housing. I used soft detergent to clean bearings, spindle and cluch plate. I used alcohol top clean out the housing. Once all parts are dry, reassemble. Whoopee, now my engine starts first time, everytime Sounds so good to turn the fly wheel and hear the bearings drop into place. Thanks again to Anglo Traction for his expert help and guidance. Regards, Rob Hi Anyone viewing this, Sorry got my picture muddled up. Sure you can work it out if not just message me and i will clarify any points. Regards, Rob

Morning all, before I can start on the next bit of serious shack surgery one of those "very boring but has to be done" jobs was done yesterday... Yep, tidying the floor!! I even managed to make space under the bench on far right!! Very handy for storing boxes of metal off cuts once I have sorted through them. You can walk around the front of the 6x6 now! The metal box/tray thingy is for catching swarf from the pillar drill and looks much better than the old blue and much trodden on biscuit tin! The tool chest was moved over as much as possible to create this big space which although filled with a full bin and bag of rubbish... Will be the new home for my power hacksaw thingy. The cull has started, all stuff to be thrown out/go to the scrap man.... Though I might rescue the drill bit kit box (looks like a tool box) and turn it onto a tool box for the GT Oh.... and I found a few hats
