    Fuel tap will be leaking 'cos you've put fuel in the tank. Getting WN off the bench should be easy if it's facing the door.

    Just going to get the head converted to unleaded, Iain and a general tidy up inside. Also a bit of welding in the boot. Don't you start!

    She's actually mentioned selling it next year, Mark. If it is sold, I hope she remembers WHO paid for it. TR6 Iain? That's more like it.

    SWMBO keeps mentioning the Spitfire and how she would like it back on the road. So while the horses were still on the trailer, I decided to give the workshop a bit of a clear up and rearrangement, so work on Spit could commence.. Not seen that much floor space since It was built. Didn't last long.

    I take it the Showman went with you? Did he keep his hands in his pockets?

    First things first. Check that the bore is not scored. If it is, you may be able to get it rebored. If not, another barrel or engine is required. To clean up valves, piston and heads, I use a 6" rule and GENTLY and CAREFULLY scrape the carbon off. You may as well remove the valves and see what state the seats are. Lap them in anyway.

    Looking at the bore, I'd say you've got a broken ring or two. Those look like score marks. Hence the oil on everything.

    Just something to give you all a giggle. Before we set out for the arena, the showman got a rope and shackle from his van. "Just in case anyone needs a tow", he said. Turned out to be a good idea, didn't it Chris? Waiting to go into the arena, his little RJ stopped and refused to restart. So Paul towed him round with the Rowcrop.

    Just a note on the Corgi motorcycle. Made by Brockhouse at Southport, along with the BMB President and Indian Brave motorcycle. My father worked there during and after WW1. We lived about 100 yards away.
