  3. I acquired an Allam generator with a Petter AA1 diesel engine some time ago. Dragged it out from it's hiding place in the workshop today, while having a sort out/move around. I don't know what year it is, but guess around the 1980's. Details of the genny are as follows. KVA 2.5. COS 0.8. Serial No. 1022 2P. 110 - 230V. Single phase. Cycles 50. AMPS 17.4 - 8.7. Made by E.P.Allam & Co. Ltd. Arterial Rd, Eastwood, Leigh-on-Sea. Essex. The Petter details are... AA1 No74343 AA1. 3 BHP. 3,000 RPM. Runs and generates like a good 'un. Noisy beast though. Haven't a clue what the excitation socket is for. I'll just leave it to the imagination. Any ideas of age anyone? Had a bit of a Google, but drew a blank.

When I was doing off road comp's with my Land Rovers, I got a drum of Castrol EP90. There's no way I'm going to use it all now. I have put up four 5ltr and one 4ltr containers to take to Newby Hall next month. £2 a litre. Anyone interested PM me.
  7. Doing a bit of tiding up in the workshop today, I came across a couple of reversing lights I bought at a Land Rover show years ago. This gave me an idea for one of them. The result is in the photo's below. Should help when ploughing at night.
  8. Good photo's Paul. I'd like to own the tree trunk display.
  9. Good work. By Gary I mean.

  12. If you'd said you wanted one, Chris, you could have had the one in my wood yard for free.

    OOP'S!

Hitched the rear discharge deck to the C-125 Wednesday, to give the green and verges a trim. To my surprise, I couldn't get the drive belt to tension properly. The mule drive adjuster was reaching it's limit before the belt was tight. It was fine last week. As I was in Carlisle yesterday I went to get a new belt. It had to be ordered but came today as promised. Now the standard size is 1/2" x 98", but as the used belt was so slack, I ordered a 1/2" x 97". So on the new belt went. Only that wouldn't tighten either. Oh sugar! Something somewhere is not right. Had a good look around. Lifted the deck. Lowered the deck. Twiddle this. Twiddled that. Had another look at the lift arm. A look at the Tach-o-Matic and..... Oh you thick b****r! The bar that holds the front of the deck wasn't located properly. It was lying flat on the deck, instead of being upright and the fork located where it should have been. Drop deck, release the Tac-o-matic, lift bar, lift deck, lock Tach-o-Matic, adjust belt and off we go a mowing. The times I've had that deck on and off over the years. Practically every time I mow for cleaning afterwards. How I missed the front bar wasn't located properly I don't know.
  14. I was thinking the same thing. Must be his age.

    Lathe fun

    Turned out well.
  16. I used to use Tractol enamel to paint my Land Rovers and trailers. I didn't spray it but applied using radiator rollers and brushes. These days I use Tor agricultural enamel. Both types are quick drying.
  17. Looks unbreakable though, Paul.
  18. You rotter Sutton. Letting me believe it was another Brinly.
