Thanks! It seems alot of work has payed off in the end but being a 40 year old machine there are times where there's an endless list of things to do on it. Lol

Great video, it is really nice to see the mower in action. She's looking very good indeed for her age, very tidy underneath, and I understand you wanting to keep those stickers on as part of the mower's history.  Sometimes I wonder about completely restoring/repainting mine, but then there is something quite special about an old machine that is preserved in a "used but not abused" state. Having said that, it's amazing what a difference a new seat can make to a machine.

My 1969 Bolens 1476 Hydrostatic with the 14 hp S-14D Wisconsin has a 48" shaft drive deck that I can mow the cow pasture and not have any issues, three foot grass isn't a problem, I have 27"x 9.50"- 15" Duro Frontier All Terrain tires on the back and original Goodyear 5.30-8 tires on the front. The hydro unit holds 11 quarts of transmission fluid inside a solid cast iron rear end and trans axle and weighs a little over 1,000 ponds without a deck or implements; I have two of these. My 1973 Allis Chalmers 416 Shuttle has 48" belt drive right hand discharge deck and a 16 hp single cylinder cast iron Kohler K341 engine mated to a 4 speed Hydro, Yep, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear is both infinite forward and reverse. Rear tires are 25"x 10"-12" Carlisle All Trails with 25 pounds of weights on each wheel with 4" axle extenders to give it a real wide track or you can remove them and install them on the outside to mount a set of dual wheels, Fronts are smooth ribbed 16x6.50-8 for easy turn and easy on the turf. This machine was only built one year and I have two other A/C 416s true Hydro units as well. These are the two machines I use to mow this year, next year I will charge two more for mowing duties. This keeps them up and running, but not overburdened.

Hi all, been a long time since I updated this, I wouldn't say I lost interest, more like I have been distracted by lots of other projects  Anyway, I have made a small start on the grille, so far so good. I am working in small sections at a time so I can be as perfectionist as possible. Once the mould is done I will sand it down and use a thin skim of body filler over any rough patches, then paint. For originality I was thinking of painting it a creamy white colour, but part of me wants to do something a little custom like silver

My 1267 "Skonkfest" tractor has had a checkered past. I got it after my heart attack to help with snow removal at work. I t had had a stuck exhaust valve in the past. I found assorted other things like no carb base gasket, silly putty sealant on the breather ect. I repainted it last spring because I got tired of a pinkish tractor. It had run good since I had done some tinkering so I only replaced the head gasket and decarboned the head when I painted it.

On it's way to it's first show it had fouled the plug. I cleaned it and didn't think twice. It ran through the Big Wheel horse show parade with no issues but this winter it started fouling the plug again. so bad I had to dig out the crud in the plug. It got to the point where it wouldn't run longer than 15 min with out fouling the plug even with an anti-fouler in it.

I got a 14 HP K321 on the shelf of of an much newer tractor  but I wanted to keep the original starter/genny set up.

    The donor motor:

Ring gear needed to come off for the original shroud to fit:

Shroud mocked up on 14 to see how it fits:

Had to use the head off of the K301 for the correct bosses for the genny bracket. You can see all the oil on top of the piston and gunk around the exhaust valve. This was all cleaned up when I painted the tractor and is only a couple of hours of run time. I'm shocked that this really didn't smoke much:

Look at the build up on the plug and antifouler after only a few min of run time:

    New engine painted up:

Mounted on the tractor. This frees up the lift table to lift the tractor!

I think that the Westwood Gazelle was around from 1976 or before as I have recently bought most of the mower paper work from eBay including some of the purchase papers from Westwood which states that the mower was a 1976 Gazelle. Will be posting more pics in summer of all the updates if anyone is interested.

    Right, finally took some pictures.
This is the clutch I got hold of. It's a bit of a lump of a thing but it seems to work quite well. The outside diameter of the pulley is 128mm so it's about twice the size of the original. There is a smaller version available but it's out of stock at the moment.  I pinched a spacer tube from the PTO and turned it down lengthwise a bit so the crank was a couple of mm shorter than the clutch when fitted. I had to adjust the keyway and key slightly as it was a bit tight and find a shorter bolt.

The tensioner is left as standard but the pedal has been separated from it. I will probably be changing the brake but for testing purposes this was OK.

The brake is on in these pictures and with the rod adjusted as shown ther isn't much travel needed on the pedal anyway.

A slightly revised version of the brake pedal extension. Again this is on with the handbrake engaged and by moving the pivot forward (no holes drilled) there is somewhere for the spring. Finding something suitable took a while until I remembered I had some old exhaust springs from my kart.

This shows the 86" belt fitted and the reason why it was easier to keep the two tensioner pulleys.  If I didn't the belt would have been rubbing against the gear selector.

Welcome to the forum, MowMaster! I am glad you're liking the thread, and I agree Westwoods are great tractors. There are a few Westwood fans here with W11's.

Also I thought you folks might want to see these photos that my brother took (he's an amateur photographer), I think they look great:

Acquired this last month, some of the information crept into the Lawnbug ride on topic so I thought I had better start a new topic in the right section ...

Not got too far with it yet other than a wash & brush up and new decals from Titch, and found a manual in my literature collection.

Hopefully picking up an interesting addition at the weekend...

Hi. I bought this for my son as he is interested in tractors and was interested to find this forum.  The cutting deck is a bit rusty but for now I have removed this.  The front wheel in the picture is the wrong one but fortunately the seller still had the original.

My son is 8 so I moved the set forward and made up a pedal extension so he could drive it. I have since made a better job of this (but only slightly) !

While he can drive it OK now I am considering fitting a centrifugal clutch and wondered if anyone else had done similar. I'd like to keep it as near to standard as possible so don't want to go too mad. With no engine braking I will need to fit a better brake. The original isn't working and I haven't managed to strip it down as the bolts going into the gearbox case are pretty stuck. I think attempting to remove them might involve stripping the threads so I will have to have to try a bit harder. One thought it to fit a brake to the power take off which might work for the time being at least.

There's an old rusty Westwood kept outside under a bedraggled tarpaulin that starts on the button according to the gardener who works next door to my customer. I will try to take a photo of it in situ next time I am there. What amazes me is that there is plenty of undercover storage for it to be stored....

    Hi everyone,

I'm new here to the forum and just wanted to say I'm really enjoying this thread.
It's good to see an original Westwood W11 being preserved, I think these are classic machines now, they look really cool and are very tough.
I have a lot of good memories of these machines!

Look forward to seeing more! Happy New Years!

Here's the Westwood with the new seat I got for my birthday and a new headlight The seat is really nice, I also replaced the bar and clip that the seat pivots on to reveal the storage box (or boot? ) with two M8s because the bar was very loose and the seat wobbled on even a slight hill. It's very comfortable now
