I recently purchased a quantity of new spares and as part of the arrangement had to take the tractor.
This is a very good MG6 serial number 12304 circa 1957 which does not appear to have seen much work.
Fitted with a Ransomes 600cc petrol engine and standard 3 speed gearbox with the optional PTO and Hydraulic rear lift.
The lift cylinder is the large version and all works well.
The Amal 356/1 carburettor has been serviced and the magneto overhauled. Compression was low so valves have been
lapped in and bore is on standard size.  Engine starts and runs very sweet.
Tracks are exceptional as are the drive wheels and weight carrying rollers.
Ideal as a working machine or for ploughing matches.
    Looking for £1500

Recently a chap made contact with me saying he had a Ransomes skimmer chassis and that he had cut off and sold the discharge conveyor and front auger just 3 months ago, he was sure that the guy he sold them to had not done anything with them yet so I asked him to contact him, after a few weeks the parts were returned back to his yard, a deal has been done and hopefully the gearboxes are there just waiting for pictures of them before I commit to anything. To be honest I cant wait to get it and weld it back together !!

Apologies Jonathan for hi jacking the thread.

A couple of more suitable? engines for sale Saturday at Cheffins auction, Ian, a Rolls Royce Merlin and Griffon in running order, complete on demonstration trailers, ready to display, just sit a 'willing assistant' Nigel? in the chair behind the prop, full revs, release the brakes and accelerate as if from a steam catapult.
Also a full size mk9 Spitfire replica for sale, if that takes your fancy.

Home today from a long weekend in Gloucestershire including two days at Tractor World.

Here's my Tractor World photos, bear with me, there's quite a few...

The outdoors photos are mainly of machines in the auction (not the Transit 4x4 or the mini Farmall)...

Thursday morning saw us up at Jonathans, loading up for the 250 something mile drive down to Malvern. Four on the wagon and trailer, and three on Jonathans trailer behind the Range Rover.

Leaving at about 12-30pm Jonathan and I arrived about 6-30 - 7pm, with Richard with wagon right behind us. Got all unloaded, then off our respective hotels with Richard setting out for Southampton.

Friday saw us setting things up. Banner, balloons, posters, photo's from various parts of the world also. New arrivals where show where to park their exhibits.  All arranged in age. Exhibits that is, not exhibitors.

So few photo's below, mainly taken before the punters arrived.

     Gareths (Sg1) very good display.

I thought Jonathan was going to do a moon, but he was just flashing his nice, new overalls with Ransomes on the back. The lovely Mrs Jarrett looks on.

    A motley crew.

A nice S1 with period trailer.

    Yes please. 1941 International.

    Loaded for home, Monday morning.

After unloading at Jonathans, I finally pulled into my yard at 8pm.

It was a good show, spent in very good company which I enjoyed greatly. The icing on the cake was 137 getting best in show and also the stand. Made all Jonathans hard work really worthwhile.

Certainly plenty of Bruno smoke over the last few weeks. ITW fired first pull on the handle this morning , instantly ran on the starter with little smoke. I would have persisted with the manual start but knackered my back yesterday so thought I would save it for Malvern. Nice seat fits a treat.

Before getting into horticultural machinery I collected stationary engines with my father. Of the engines we own this Ruston Hornsby APR
2 1/2hp model from 1928 is our most rallied engine.
The last photo shows it driving our Evans water pump.

Repaired and strengthened the engine bay floor today using heavy angle iron and 3mm plate. I cut the plate to the ford gearbox cut out using a plasma cutter, welded in the plate and then ground the welds flush. Just given it a rough coat of primer to stop it rusting. Drill the engine bolt holes in the morning and then fit the engine. Waiting for my professional seat fitter to arrive and fit the new skimmer seat. Had a test sit yesterday definitely not a job you could do with a kilt on !!!

Would have been nice to restore the body side plates but at this stage I dont know if Ransomes cut them away when fitting the auger orv if it was done later so no point until I have some more bits.

All done! Went for a ride up the road to the next farm. Starts really well from cold or hot, seems to lack power but hey who cares it moves and smoke is minimal. Steers well on grass and gravel bit sluggish to steer severely on tarmac but then new tyres etc. Throttle still a bit stiff but again newness in the governor and I am certainly not going to mess about with it.

First two pictures are engine ticking over at 510 rpm, third picture is full bore at 2100 rpm. Does smoke more under load but again it is 4 degrees here.

Much better thanks Norman. Made up a panel for the ignition key and heater plug switch. Have to keep going back to it and starting it just to make sure it is sorted. So far so good ! If it was not for Neil Jarrett being able to supply me with parts more or less next day I would be screwed.
