  1. Thanks Chris; I will have a look at them.
  2. Where's the best place to buy tyres for garden tractors as I am looking to buy a set of Agri tyres for one of my Bolens. What's the brand would you recommend? Thanks

    Owatrol

I use Boiled Linseed oil with white spirit on the wooden handles of my garden tools to enhance the grains in the wood as well as protecting the timber. Haven't tried it on metal though.

    Bolens G14

Another step forward to getting the G14 back into action.

    Owatrol

OB, George got me onto Owatrol and as you know I have applied this product on my Bolens tiller. I am very pleased with the finish and I think you will too. The key thing is to ensure the surface is clean and dry and any rusty, flaky bits are rubbed off with sandpaper. Apply very thinly and it will go a long way. I plan to to my Bolens 1254 with this technique.
  6. I can attest to the workmanship of both Ian and Nigel's projects when I visited a few back. When I visited, unannounced, they were busy working on Ian's WH project. Obviously they have talked through their ideas to get to that stage. I like to call them the Dynamic Duo as they seem to crack on with their respective projects.
  7. I read that somewhere before. Ride ons, after quad bikes and small machinery, are often targeted by thieves to sell on. One of my customers a few years back had thier ride on stolen and they claimed it off the house insurance but didn't get a market value for it.
  8. I have now put the Å´heel weights in the vaults of the Bank of England for safe keeping from you two.
  9. Neil, I think he sold all his GTs to finance his mini restoration. My mate, Daniel, aka Robins, bought one of his WH a few summers back.
  10. Well done Ian, you got a lot done in the last fortnight.great video too.
  11. Ian, one word. perseverance! Well pleased with these items.
  12. You can talk; you bagged that LF with a FEL and backhoe! Lucky Devil.
  13. Here is a photo of the two FMC embossed Å´heel weights. These are hard to find in The UK, especially the FMC ones. I had planned to put them on the 800 but now think it might end up on the Ride a Matic instead.
  14. Nor in mine workshop either!

    Bolens G14

Iain, According to Brian's article (aka Bolens1000) on the history of Bolens Tube Frames, the production run was from 1973 to 1978. The original Tecumesh engine was the HH 140 overhead model. There were two decal changes too. The Husky Dog was the earlier version whilst the FMC was the later version from '76 apparently. Hope that is of some help but as you say the decals are missing it could be difficult to age it correctly.

    Bolens G14

The metal work and chassis look very solid and tidy Iain. Who did you order the carb kit from?
  17. That's a lovely story and I meant sunset, not rainbow! I must admit, they do look rather special in thier unique decals.
  18. OB, do you know why the G11 had the rainbow decals on them? I would love that snow blower too. There was one for sale in the UK yesterday and sold for £56...... See post under shows for details. I have a Toyota Hilux pickup with the same issue. You havej given me an idea about the ballast for the rear. Another Bolens tractor, perhaps a Husky Pup, will cure this dangerous problem I think
  19. Yes, I was lucky with them; I paid £50 for them. The seller just listed it minutes earlier and I snapped them off him. He couldn't be live it. He was the same chap I bought the plough off too. I collected it from Kent a few weeks back. I smuggled them in the secret load bay of the family car. My wife commented how much better the car handles when she took over the driving enroute home. I muttered something about the importance of having the correct tyre pressure.....
  20. For every implement I buy it means another Bolens tractor have to be bought so I only have to align it once! Well that's my excuse anyway.....
  21. That's stunning that Royal Blue paintwork and the home made tracks. Inspirational.
  22. Tom, I taken a photo of the product I used on the tiller. The key thing is preparing the surface before applying it thinly. Cheers Andrew
  23. Thanks Tom. Google Owatrol and the company website will come up. I got one litre from them and I have hardly used any so far. I intend to apply it to the Bolens 1254 I got plus a couple of 'working implements' I have. George, aka The Fife Plooman on this forum, put me onto them. Have a look at his post too. So far I am pleased with it.
  24. I applied a second coat a few weekends back and I am really pleased with the results. It got a nice protective sheen to it as well as enhancing the patina of the machine itself. I would like to use this hence the reason why it has not been repainted. I guess if I got another tiller, I would more than likely get it repainted as part of my rally kit.
