I know it would be free advertising, but would a place for info of this kind be a bad idea? Not just for Kohlers, but any place people have found parts for their machines, implements etc. Just a thought as info like this can be lost in the depths of the forum.

Just painted and fit on tractor....Seems to work ok...Looking for some longish grass to try out properly.
When we go to our next show we should have a nice cut area....I hope..
Might  need a rake and baler...If its to long..
Might be next job making a rake...

TBH there wasn't that much to do to it, there was surface rust but it was in pretty decent nick. All we did was sand the old paint (right back to the metal on the main cover), repaint everything (using some old red lead primer that had been knocking about for years), Martin sharpened it, and added the new roller which was just a rolling pin, we regreased everything and put it back together. The grassbag was just kinda cobbled together after looking at photos.

Oh and I think he made a plastic bush on the lathe, for where the handle connects on, cos it rattled.

I love the shape of them, and I want another - I can imagine one in grey with a big red shark-teeth mouth! Or with WW2 bomber-style artwork, a glamour girl astride a bomb Flymo..

So we've waited until this little project was complete to show it off.

I got bored of racing green and decided that the retro shape of the Conquest needed something more stylish... This will probably horrify the purists out there, but meh.. What do you think?

There's 1.5 acres here that needs mowing, and the plan was originally to give this machine away as a gift cos it's not much use here. I don't think we can bear to part with it now though!

The roller, by the way, was a bargain buy - it's a rolling pin. The grass-bag is made of a shower curtain, the side of an old PC tower case, and a metal bean pole.

Fetched this home from darkest South East London this afternoon - not far from HMP Belmarsh!
Looks like it's been exposed to the elements for a while but is basically OK.
Never been a great fan of the Briggs / Marquis combination so once it's all running I may retrofit a Sloper.

Triumph66 reacted to Robins in Wheelhorse Electro with a stack pipe.
    Hi all,
Last week I had a job come in where i needed to fabricate these for an elderly customer so they could come out of hospital after a fall. The step up to the front door was to big to manage, so an intermediate step and custom rails have helped.

But whilst making them i had a bit of time spare between metal cooling and paint drying ect, so started my Wheel horse stack pipe
Started with this, no idea what its from but fits the job and kindly donated by friend Simon. This is not the tidiest job, the welds are not perfect, and it's made from scrap parts as my budget for tractors is £zero, the offcuts are from my Mustang exhaust headers i made some time ago, so been planing this a while then

Objective is make a cool looking stack pipe, that makes the engine Quiet! After cutting it open, i welded a chamber inside for the gasses to enter (side entry in to the stack),

Then drilled through both outer and inner chamber cases and welded the inlet pipe on to just the outer case.

Then slid the inner perforated section out, and wrapped in exhaust wadding nice and tightly for sound deadening purposes, and slid it all back together and welded up the joints.

As i'm hoping to fit the Magnum 16 engine one day, i made a flange to bolt it to the engine rather than the threaded type fitments.
Sorry its fuzzy! But you get the idea.

Now why is there a pipe coming from the top and bottom you ask?

Well my plan was either it would make it quieter or it would not, but worth experimenting with. The main reason though is a support for the stack as it bolts to the chassis without looking like a huge bracket, then it wont crack the head if it's walloped. By the way it didnt help with noise so i plugged the end of the lower pipe
And here it is finished and loosely fitted to my Electro 12 for basic testing.

What do we all think? On basic testing I'm very hopeful for a quieter tractor, the engine was louder than the exhaust note, and the engine does rattle rather a lot!

Please add on pictures of your stack pipes if you want to, be great to see them.

    cheers, Daniel

    Andrew,
Your plough is interesting as the ends have a 45 degree edge. As it is painted black it will be a later plough.
Mine is painted yellow and does not have the 45. You might want to consider painting it yellow to fit with the age of the 800 and 1254. Alternatively, just wait until you buy the next Bolens and it might be a later model.

Slightly off topic but from the same stable as Kelsey Publication, I subscribe to Classic Van and Pickup every month. It's a great read and amusingly written. I have bought the odd tractor magazine when it appeals to me. The last copy of Tractor and Machinery didn't float my boat at all. I will be buying the American Garden Tractors Magazine shortly.

Finally got a good pic to post of my Economy Power King 2414. THe loader was home built. The uprights and arms were copied from the PK drawings and the bucket is a scoop hybrid. Exhaust stack was made from a Gravely muffler and electrical conduit.

Agreed, pushing snow is one of the most fun things to do on a tractor. I think I may have already posted this picture already somewhere, but it is one of my favourites

I broke a weld on mine a while back pushing soil. I must fix that before the winter. If we get a bit of snow it would be good if everyone posted some snow pushing pictures or videos.

Just joined this today after selling my Mayfield Merlin to Kennmof2000 (see his posts today). Anyway, how about a Sickle Bar Mower for your Bolens. I have had one sitting in my garage for the last 20 years. It was purchased in 1988 and adapted to a Simplicity Landlord (just a few bits bolted on). Brought it with me when I moved 20 years ago and never used it again. Still have the original manual. I remember it arriving in a big wooden box just like a coffin and full of mice nests!

    Andrew,
You also need a finger bar mower, flail mower, sleeve hitch, FEL and hydraulic lift.
Give me a while and I will think of others :-)
After last year we must have snow this year.

Thanks James, I've not quite mastered it yet but I'm getting there..

    More mounts almost made up..

And tweaked a bit to give a bit more space around the starter motor..

    They bolt here..

The only trouble with recycling steel is it needs a good clean up first.. This was part of the filming trailer I built ages ago but never used!

    Cleaned up and welded on..

And on to today's fun and games, starting with the remains of the frame that the engine top mount was once attached to..  I only needed the threaded tube bit's..

You can just about see it in this balancing act of bits of metal.. Its the bit with the masking tape on it that was being marked out for more trimming.

After a day of careful measuring, cutting, welding and getting really confused until I realized the radiator is mounted on the engine an inch more to the right than left (why did Honda want everything on the outside of this engine offset from the center?), I had come up with most of the engine mounting frame..

I still need to make some cross members for it, but I'm happy with how it's turning out

As I'm only using one of the engine mounting places at the top of the engine, I will be making some mounts which will go forward from the threaded stud and join onto my engine frame.

So does the hood still fit?

    That would be a Yes
