    I know there is a lot experience and knowledge of these O&R enigne powered machine on here, so  I thought I'd dip a toe in the water and post this sorry sight in a Tray-

    From a quick scan of the topics on here, I presume the red paint indicates an early-ish model.
    The engine cowling is a devoted effort by someone in the past to repair or keep running this unit without replacement parts being available, as the retractable pullstart is long gone.
    Being offered it, I'm tempted to have a go at it, but doubt if I could get it back to original appearance, the cost and availablility of parts and the current condition.
    The only numbers I could see on the motor are shown here-

    This being in the UK will not be so easy to sort, so may put under the bench for some 'over winter' repair therapy?.

    factory got a reaction from CNew in Aquabug surprise!
    Here is another part I have made for the Aquabug, the carbs don't have the usual air filter, instead they have a gauze filter held with a plastic retainer.

    Neither of my two Aquabug's had the gauze so I cut a piece to size, I made a retainer from a shortened plastic end cap with a hole cut in the end.

    Nice find, looks to have been well looked after too.
    The gearbox looks very similar to that used on the earlier Drillgine drill or the Comet version, I never noticed before that the later ones are slightly different.
    Does it still have the instructions that the storage box refers to?

    Instructions!!!  very little seems to come with those these days, usually only get a few pages of elf & safety information, how to recycle/dispose of it, sign up here for extended guarantee (no thanks) and nothing on how to actually use it.

    Sugar bush seems to be the name given to farms with a lot of maple trees producing maple syrup, sugar bush farms may have anywhere from a few hundred to many thousands of maple trees, which may explain the larger than normal gas tank.
    I've not found anything on this drill yet but have found several power tapping products made by other companies in the 1960's, including a larger 2¾HP engine powered version and a battery powered electric version.

    Found a 620RPM KING Drillgine (re-branded) in the Maple Syrup Digest (Jan 1964) on page 15;
    http://www.maplesyrupdigest.org/?p=125
    It seems the Sugar Bush Supplies Company had much smaller ads than competitor Geo. H. Soule Co. Inc.

    Here is my newest addition. I picked up this Sugar Bush Supplies Company drill for tapping Maple trees. This company was based out of Lansing, Michigan.  The gentleman I bought this from was super nice and knew a few things about it after he contacted the company. This may be 1 of only a few made. It has the original box and an interesting modification to the carburetor choke lever. A little lever has been attached to help with accessing it since the motor is really crammed up inside the housing. I cleaned out the gas tank today as it was full of sludge and some rust. I’ve got more photos but I’ve hit the limit for file size.

    I've not seen one of those advertised for sale for years, the 'Chicken Power' to 'Pony Express' name change seems to have happened after O&R became AEP.

    All the late AEP produced tools I've seen are painted all over, the paint doesn't seem to stay attached that well though.

    Just figured this item number may help if anyone wants to replace the starter rope(s) on their engines. Especially the ones where the engine and or tool has been refurbished or rebuilt.  It closely matches the original braided rope.
    It's fairly inexpensive and 100 ft goes a long way.

    Here's on spot to buy but possibly cheaper if you search around

    Here is the video from that article, the O&R display is about 42 seconds in;

    The orange saw is a Western Auto Wizard CAT 20, not seen the yellow one opposite it before.
    Nice way of displaying them, he needs to update the years on the label though.

    I found an older video from 2009, the O&R display starts at approx 5.36;

    He seems to have one of those Mono ones too, the bright green one is a late one from AEP branded Jim Savage.

    Well here is the project I'm working on now. This is the first O&R I acquired it was about 35 years ago my brother worked at a mower shop in Florida.
    His boss was going to threw it out and I said I will take it . I took it apart and was going to get it running but life gets in the way I was only about 16 maybe 18 not sure .
    Its been in a box for a long time 6 to 7 moves 3 states . I found it in a box a few years ago and this it what started it all .  Missing a few parts must have got  lost in the
    moves  but well get it together . For the last few years I have been buying them when I can. thanks to a few good people I now have a few diaphragms to get it going and a few more.
    Missing the clamp to hold blade and blade. Just found a blade on ebay 8" is not on all the store shelves.

    Could be a drop shipper* with multiple accounts, that didn't have them in stock and couldn't get any quickly, so fobbed you off with shipment tracking delays.
    *The worst kind of seller, often copying vast inventories of stuff from other website over & over, till ePay gets saturated with items all the same (insert thumbs down emoji we don't have here!).

    There are also a lot of legitimate accounts getting hacked all the time, as soon as the listings get taken down they appear again under another hacked account, the scammers must make enough to keep doing this.

    There are three different versions of the Comet circular saw that I know of;

    The first & earliest (1961 or earlier) branded Comet C/Saw, I can't imagine many survived for long without the tank getting damaged;

    Second version same as yours, also branded Comet C/Saw with improved tank handle;

    And finally the later version, branded Comet Tote'N Tools, with cast tank;

    Have you got the special cover that Comet used for the magneto coil?

    David

    P.S. None of these are mine, I only have a Comet pump myself.

    I ended up buying two deep sockets, the first one was too large to fit.

    You may also find it useful to have three longer screws/bolts to help with separating the engine from the frame.

    Another deep reach socket is used for installing the seals.

    Have a good read through both the 20A & Challenger Chainsaw manuals.

    There is another service bulletin for these saws, they must have had complaints.

    You may have an air leak in the crankshaft seals, common issue on these old saws and why many get tossed, no seals available for many of these old saws. Air leaks in the carb or crank seals are often the cause of this issue. You can use a leak tester like the mity mite 8500 to determine whether you have a leak in the carb, by blocking the intake off with a plate and also making a plate with a stem to test crankcase pressure. I have diagrams on these testing plates if you need them. I also have a large database for new replacement seals by size and cross referenced to new part numbers.

    Ah I see, you would have been best to post that request in another more relevant thread, the carb rebuild sticky thread gives info on where to find reproduction carb diaphragms for the smaller 3/4HP to 1HP engines. I will add the info about part no #400102 there.

    That is an O&R or AEP number, you will only find new-old-stock of those as AEP (Advanced Engine Products Inc) closed down in 1978.

    Edit: Where did you find that number (#400102)? As it is a replacement carb diaphragm assembly for the smaller 1HP Compact & Series 13 engines, no use whatsoever for the Series 20A engine used in these chainsaws.

    This may help with part numbers for the O&R repair kits if Webhead still has any (send him a private message).
