It's mainly water causing me pain and snow. I can't seal them in

it's keeping them clean Norm, would be a nightmare in mud - plus they aren't designed to run out of line eitherI thought of cogged v with perhaps some grooves or notches in the pulleys to stop it slippingjust not enough room JamesI've turned the sides of the sprockets down to allow a greater angle. I think running worn and loose with idlers is the way to go.I ran it again at the weekend and it did better, but it is an extreme angle i'm asking it to do
I've just finished 4 years of development!!!!!Brief update...
Started with a vengeance on the hydraulics. Done the levers

Shame every fitting I have is different

I think I'll end up changing everything over to jic, as can't adapt the spool valve to metric

Hi all as I mentioned earlier I kept having chain issues with the rear drive so i ordered new pilot bore sprockets Similar to What Mark used in fact I have copied his very clever idea on mounting them ( I asked him first if I could copy him ) any way now that my lathe is up and running I bored out the brake drums and the sprockets here's is what I have done

Yours looks great Paul, all very original! Are you taking it to any shows this year?

I put all mine roughly together this morning to see what it looks like when it's all assembled. I'm quite impressed by it..

    Hi all,

Managed to get my hands on a Martin Markham, he started to strip it down so it's in pieces, luckily it's only the big bits he's
taken off so far. Gearbox seems OK, engine turns and has good compression and the rams for the loader are in good
condition. The bonnet has headlights which look factory, were these an option? I only have one picture but will get some
more of everything when I unload it all..

I picked this up today. A wheelhorse 800, it comes complete with the deck, snow plough, sweeper, grass and chevron wheels and some cultivator tines. It has had an engine swap from the original 8hp kohler to a 17hp kohler. I have not had a chance to get it going but hopefully a new battery, fresh fuel and a carb clean.
I just wanted to know if this is also called the commando 800 as well as the 3 speed 800. Also do you think it is best to keep the replacement engine or find an original.

Hi all, here are a few photos of my Bristol 10 taken a couple of years ago when we moved it from one shed to another.
No electric start, you have to hand crank the Austin engine. Controls are a bit different to all my other crawlers in that there is only one steering lever, it makes running it up loading ramps quite tricky as you can't stop and brake both tracks. Throttle is via twist grip at the end of the steering lever.
Last photo shows the Bristol beside my Ransome crawlers for an idea of size.

That's stunning work Ewan; you really are cracking on with it.
Can't relax until I see the chassis painted in yellow; looking worryingly like your Dad's WH influence there......

Been busy today cleaning up the chassis and painting, here's some pictures.

I'm pleased with the result after a coat of etch primer, it feels like I'm getting somewhere now

To help fill the rust pits I'm brushing on red oxide primer.

My new toy arrived last week so hopefully it should speed up the restoration and hopefully I will be able to achieve a good clean surface so I can use etch primer.

A little bit more done today, started dismantling the engine and starter generator.

First I removed the pto and pulley.

I have now removed all of the tin work and have started on the starter generator.

Thanks, I'm liking it, I'm putting everything in an E-tank first to clean the paint off, just so it blasts quicker but it is doing a good job, it's a good size so I will be able to fit my bonnet and wheels in there
Hopefully it will look like it has just come out of the factory

    Where he left it.

Rig up some kind of dust extraction system, Ewan. NOT your mother's vacuum cleaner.

One 'eck of a good job on the chassis BTW.
