Cub Cadet reacted to the showman in Winter Project
Started putting Ben together today and I needed a couple of shift lever boots, I found some on fly bay at £18-75 each
Looking around in the shed I found a rack gaiter left over from a job that fitted perfectly ( with a bit of lube on the stick ) back on fly bay searched the number and a pair for £7-30 a pair , umm guess what. ?

Good Friday and lovely sunshine , what better way to spend a lockdown than with a spray gun.

A V8!!! Nah, stick a CX engine in it
An interesting build mate, sometimes the best builds start off with no real plan, they evolve into something unique that's realy cool
Remember what I used to say... "Throw it all in a big pile and work it out from there"

Cub Cadet reacted to Stormin in It was just lying there.
A year and a half ago, contractors were working in the field opposite me. They cut down some trees and just pushed them to the field edge. So today I fitted the tote box to the Sears/Roper, hitched up the trailer and went firewood gathering.
Tomorrow I'll go for some more.

Cub Cadet reacted to CNew in Ohlsson & Rice: how old is it?
Ok, got this really cool engine and I know it’s an early one. Might need David’s insights for this one. There aren’t any markings on it as far as I can tell, no model or serial numbers. This is as-received and I haven’t touched it yet but looking forward to giving it a bath. Unfortunately the engine and the gear box are both sieved up. I pulled the plug and the top of the piston looks surprisingly clean. Missing the air cleaner. Has a push-pull throttle cable and a little pulley (probably an add-on). I have no idea of the application, maybe a compressor or something. This is definitely the oldest O&R in my collection now.

Cub Cadet reacted to pmackellow in O&R Tarpen tools
A scrap book of cuttings and adverts was acquired from the son of a former Tarpen employee many years ago
In it is this article from Farm Implement and Machinery News 1967
In the text it mentions the machines were developed by Edward Bals and quotes "The new sprayers, to be marketed in Great Britain by the Tarpen Engineering co Ltd, 7 Coronation Road London"
Second paragraph of text, second photo

Cub Cadet reacted to pmackellow in O&R Tarpen tools
The UK firm of Tarpen were distributors of the Turbair sprayer with O&R power during the 1960's.
The firm also produced a Mini engine setup with O&R power that could be used on some of their tools.
I have two in my collection at the moment, one on a Tarpen 33 hedge trimmer, the other on a cultivator...

As the day finished yesterday i had a final check that all the fabrication was done and I’m quite pleased with how they look.
As the day finished today all I’ve got is a big pile of bits.

Very smart. Lucky to have a neighbour like that.
Now how about the pair of you doing reproductions? Could be a nice little earner. Only make when ordered.

And on to plan “B”, with the help of my neighbour took a mould off the original Sububan fender and added a couple of strengthening ribs.
Made one pair and fitted them to Ben to see what they looked like, I’m so pleased gonna make another pair for Bill.
Even put red dye in the gel coat.

Cub Cadet reacted to Ian in New Workshop Build
Thanks Norm, it's getting there now... I have been busy sorting the "shed" side of things at the mo, a few more hours will have it sorted then I can start doing the "final sort" of the workshack.
Thanks Alan, I'm looking forward to starting a proper (made out of metal) build or two... I have plenty of ideas but a few of then have to be built in a certain order, so I can er... build the next one..
No update this time, but have the latest shack video instead

Cub Cadet reacted to Wallfish in BEJAY winch
Got this one painted in record time. 5 years 2 months plus. Woo Hoo! Started on this project way back in Jan of 2015 and the engine is the one from the rebuild pics thread. The coil was recently changed back to an old school version since that's what was originally on the engine. Finally it's close enough to see the light at the end of the tunnel after pecking away at it for an hour or 2 at a time over the last couple weeks. This is too cool and rare of a piece to be left sitting in pieces out in a forgotten box. Not sure what I was think'n.
Still need to paint the tank , touch up quite a few spots damaged on the yellow, figure out a decal and it appears there should be a chain guard on the front because of holes in the one on it, so maybe that too. Still not sure about winding on the cable or not. It's kind of heavy without it and there's no handle to carry it. All that cable is pretty heavy just on it's own. Seems it was designed to just be mounted and not so much portable.
That Rustoleum paint seems like it never hardens so it's a PITA not scrape up during assembly.
Started with this and now up to that.

Scratching my arse for some thing to do up the workshop so I will have to start a project out of bits I’ve got laying around, I haven’t a clue what it’s going to be, but these parts will make a start

Cub Cadet reacted to the showman in Winter Project
My new tyres arrived yesterday, very pleased with them almost the same size and a third of the price. As the rims are old i put new tubes in them as they were only £6 each.
Now both the boys are on the floor and rolling.
