Anyone know what the points gap should be?

-
makes me think of old auto tractor conversion kits like the pullford ones
Taco conversion kit
it kinda looks like this model T ford with pullford conversion kit
then again it kinda looks like a shaw conversion too

Looking good Mark, what's that hitch thingy on the front for?
-
-
chris i think that is for a stationary engine, since there is a fixed speed adjusting thingy
if you look at page 9 of this you'll see: http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/file/2203-engine-kohler-k241-k301-service-engines/

done most of the reading this afternoon Richard
-
got my repair manual today some very usefull info in there, some not so usefull info. anyway here's the engine specs for you guys
-
the vid is on YT now, certainly looks good, but can it do a burnout?
-
quick update,
I haven't made a lot of progress, pretty much none actually, but i ordered something that will hopefully prove to be quite useful with ordering parts and putting it back together
i think it is quite a find, an enlish repair manual for a east german engine
that's all for now

oh i love the light blue pickup
that light blue anglia looks good too, v8 like this one?
-
-
i believe these kohler's have acr, that's probably why you can turn it by hand
-
i think the M.A.N. looks a bit odd in blue, they should be greenish
-
i've had another look at it this evening and when i was turning the crank with the mounted pully it struck me, i still have one of those thingies you put in a drill and put a socket on.
so i made this
the socket on the end goes here:
now i spin it at a reasonable speed and we were able to get it to produce 3 whole volts, sound a bit week but atleast we know the genny still produces "juice"
now, here's some pic's of the genny part
-
ah i thought it was something like that just didn't know for sure, thanks
-
if the genny part is still good then yes that's the plan, if that part is shot than i might be searching for a wheel horse to put it in

got some more work done on the engine today, found out why bits of the governer were floating about in the sump.
the culprit is this little piece here:
that little piece was behind the big gear you see in these pics:
when we got those things out we thought lets see why there is no compression so we put some oil down the bore. still no improvement
so off came this piece
then this piece:
which doesn't look too healthy
and off came this lot
it soon became clear why there was such little compression, the piston rings were stuck right in the piston
as can be seen here:
the piston pin(is that the right word for the damn thing?) was almost completely stuck in the con rod, turns out there are a lot of burrs on there where the previous guy that worked on it hit it with something
anyway time for a cuppa and a to not get too angry at that previous guy
that's all for now
-
Some bits of the regulator, took most of em out before the pic
-
the year on the engine is '81, so about 34 years old
