Thanks James, shame it's such slow progress..
The underside of the fender pan has been cleaned up and red oxided..
Filler on, filler off! I hate fillering but it's got to be done..
The bonnet got a light skim of filler too..
The extra cooling slot I cut in the front were made wider so they match the originals, a new bit of "grill mesh" was fitted behind as well..
-
That's a whole lot of shed going on there Chris.. If I tried that I wouldn't be able to get into my garden
-
Well... Everything I need to finish off the bodywork has arrived, filler, primer, topcoat etc but I found a slight problem!
As I started to clean up the fender pan I kept finding more and more stress cracks! I'm not surprised as WN has had a huge amount of being thrashing about and the arch bits of the fender pan were not as strong as they could of been..
The hard part was coming up with a way of adding strength that didn't change the look of the fender pan... Until...
A few welding burn marks!
I need to tidy up a few welds but you won't see the strengthening frame unless you on your hands and knees looking under the arch.. Oh, and it's added a huge amount of strength that should stop things from flexing
-
1st class work there James, she's looking goooooood
You can't have much left to bolt back on now?
-
Not a great deal to report, lot's of painted parts have been bolted back on...
The valve covers were swapped for the one off my spare CX engine as furry is easier to clean...
Lot's of polishing later...
More Ford Cardinal red paint has been ordered, so next week the body panels get the treatment
-
Wow you have made good progress James, she's certainly looking good
-
Fast enough for sure, but it would need a much bigger fuel tank!
Not much to show really other than lot's of parts being painted red or black..
And of course the latest WN video
And of course the latest Wn video
-
Thanks guy's, it was quite a good birthday.. I didn't have to cook dinner
-
I do have some ideas on decals, I just need to decide on exactly what
Taking WN to Newby would be cool, it's just the distance that's the problem..
-
-
Thanks mate, yeah it does feel good to get some painted parts bolted back on
Looking to good to use??? Nah, I can't wait to drive her again
Ah yes the spray gun.. As you can see it works well on Nigel's mower wash bay
I'm saying nowt
A big moment was reached yesterday... With the help of Nigel, Matt, Dennis and Dennis's engine hoist (thanks guys) the engine went back in with only the minimum of paint damage..
To add a bit of detail the GL500 badges were cleaned up an repainted..
Have a bonus photo just plucked from the video footage.. The engine in mid flight
-
It's not as fast or fun and a lot harder to get in and out of! Oh, and the steering feels like WN's when you drove it!
No chance
I'm not sure other road users would agree when it causes 10 mile tailbacks!
Strangely Nigel managed to get in and out of it..... I was just in too much shock to get the camera
-
It won't take long to get her dirty again Mark
You know that kangaroos have those pouch thingys...
-
I thought it was a flat cat
I'm guessing the red oxide is rattle can paint Chris?
-
A very tidy looking buy, I'm guessing by the condition it's all up and running?
-
The Ariens looks a nice machine and as Andrew says it's good to see something different
-
Nice Landy Mark, it should prove handy if Bendy ever gets stuck
-
Maybe I should of used a green light saber
The app is available at all non reputable app stores... Or maybe not
It would clean out more than your sinuses!
It would certainly make for shorted ques at the burger vans

Evening all, well the air around the workshop has been red of late... Nope, not people getting angry, chassis painting instead
Two coats of Ford Cardinal red and a couple of clear coats..
Even though the engine cradle was painted at the same time, a different light makes it look a different colour!
Out in the sun the red looks quite bright and contrasts well with the black radiator mount.
The engine after 2 of 4 coats of black engine enamel.
4 coats of black done and the engine looks a lot better.. I didn't see any point in masking up the valve covers as they need to be stripped of silver paint and polished up..
Just so I could say I've started putting WN back together the king pins/spindles and rear axle were bolted on.
When the engine and wheels go back on Mnday I will really feel like I'm getting somewhere with the reassembly... Well, until I have to start on the bodywork
-
Nice work James, the beading not only looks good but it will add loads of strength
-
Thanks Chris
I thought about that, but I think I will be going back to the "brushed" look.
Well, the paint finally arrived yesterday so here's a kind sneak preview..
The shade is Ford Cardinal red, an 80's shade which looks like it changes shade quite a bit depending on light..
-
Your tearing into the resto very fast, the rate your going it will be done in a couple of weeks
-
NIce work Chris though I did like the trailer in it's rustic clothes...
