  1. Here's wishing you a happy birthday Karl, thanks for all your hard working keeping MOM running smoothly
  2. The trailers looking good Chris, it's gonna look amazing with the ash
  3. That looks a fun way to spend a few hours James
  4. If I had a couple of sheds that size in my garden there wouldn't be any space for the house One day when I'm all grown up I will have sheds that big too
  5. And so the bodywork continues......... The front of the bonnet/hood had the grey primer treatment, you can see where I've started to flatten it down with the aid of a light guide coat. When I was happy with the bonnet it got three heavy coats of red oxide which also need flattening back to a smooth finish. The fender pan has taken lot's of work, but when I was happy it was mostly the shape it should be I hit it with red oxide.. Nothing like a coat of paint to show where the flaws are... And there were loads! Lot's more sanding and adding a bit of filler here and there we have reached this stage.. Only a few minor pin holes to sort out but I'm happy with how it looks now.. All the smaller panels are done apart from the final red oxide coats and some wet n dry flattening, and a thank you to Nigel for finishing the welding on the foot plates Friday With a bit of luck everything will be getting top coats next week, it will be nice to see some shiny paint on them finally
  6. Just a quick update as I'm off to the workshop shortly.. The fillering continues, the fender pan is still a way off yet but is getting there.. The top of the bonnet/hood had got to the point where it looked good and felt smooth.. Only one way to find out, hit it with primer.. Which I did and left it to dry overnight. Much to my shock the next day (yesterday) I found only a couple of high spots, a small low spot and a few pin holes in the filler.. So... More sanding, 3 good coats of primer, flatten back the primer and hit iot with 3 more good coats..... A bit of wet and dry work today will leave a very nice smooth finish for the top coats I have been working on the smaller panels as well, a bit of sun to help dry them.. Quite fun as I had to keep moving bits inside to avoid rain/hail/snow showers! Here's the next shower approaching!
  7. Evening guy's, here's the last and final update on the Project Horse Gut story.. As most of you will know Nigel and I got an offer we just couldn't refuse.... So she went off to a new home.. Loaded in the trailer... The poo trailer was taken on a second trip before you all wonder how it was fitted in I can't sing, so I won't finish on a song... So let's finish with a video instead... Bye bye Horse Gut, it's been fun and a good laugh..
  8. Your right there mate, the fender pan was a bit "up and down" in places.. I'm aiming for my best bit of bodywork/paint job yet with WN..
  9. That's a nice find Kev, the grass box looks the same as the one that came with my Webb years ago..
  10. Ian

    The Ferrari.

That's bad news on the engine Ash, I'm sure your get it sorted..
  11. Thanks James, shame it's such slow progress.. The underside of the fender pan has been cleaned up and red oxided.. Filler on, filler off! I hate fillering but it's got to be done.. The bonnet got a light skim of filler too.. The extra cooling slot I cut in the front were made wider so they match the originals, a new bit of "grill mesh" was fitted behind as well..
  12. That's a whole lot of shed going on there Chris.. If I tried that I wouldn't be able to get into my garden
  13. Well... Everything I need to finish off the bodywork has arrived, filler, primer, topcoat etc but I found a slight problem! As I started to clean up the fender pan I kept finding more and more stress cracks! I'm not surprised as WN has had a huge amount of being thrashing about and the arch bits of the fender pan were not as strong as they could of been.. The hard part was coming up with a way of adding strength that didn't change the look of the fender pan... Until... A few welding burn marks! I need to tidy up a few welds but you won't see the strengthening frame unless you on your hands and knees looking under the arch.. Oh, and it's added a huge amount of strength that should stop things from flexing
  14. 1st class work there James, she's looking goooooood You can't have much left to bolt back on now?
  15. Not a great deal to report, lot's of painted parts have been bolted back on... The valve covers were swapped for the one off my spare CX engine as furry is easier to clean... Lot's of polishing later... More Ford Cardinal red paint has been ordered, so next week the body panels get the treatment
  16. Wow you have made good progress James, she's certainly looking good
  17. Fast enough for sure, but it would need a much bigger fuel tank! Not much to show really other than lot's of parts being painted red or black.. And of course the latest WN video And of course the latest Wn video
  18. Thanks guy's, it was quite a good birthday.. I didn't have to cook dinner
  19. I do have some ideas on decals, I just need to decide on exactly what Taking WN to Newby would be cool, it's just the distance that's the problem..
  20. Thanks mate, yeah it does feel good to get some painted parts bolted back on Looking to good to use??? Nah, I can't wait to drive her again Ah yes the spray gun.. As you can see it works well on Nigel's mower wash bay I'm saying nowt A big moment was reached yesterday... With the help of Nigel, Matt, Dennis and Dennis's engine hoist (thanks guys) the engine went back in with only the minimum of paint damage.. To add a bit of detail the GL500 badges were cleaned up an repainted.. Have a bonus photo just plucked from the video footage.. The engine in mid flight
  21. It's not as fast or fun and a lot harder to get in and out of! Oh, and the steering feels like WN's when you drove it! No chance I'm not sure other road users would agree when it causes 10 mile tailbacks! Strangely Nigel managed to get in and out of it..... I was just in too much shock to get the camera
