Anglo Traction got a reaction from Ian in Yellow Mower Challenge!
Received a few more images that show a bit more detail after it has had a little brush over
I like the simplicity of this mower, which obviously is designed for light cutting producing a quality a sward finish.

At least there is the remnants of one Wooden Roller to take measurements from. Just hope the Cylinder is salvageable.
Even has the original Start Rope with Toggle.....looking promising.

Hope to get down to collect it at the end of the month.

Here's another rare and strange O&R powered tool. Petro Products drill from the early 60s. Kind of reminds me of Flash Gordon.
My grandson saw it, got all excited and asked "Can I shoot it?". He thought it was a cool looking gun.

The part for the 3/8" chain option has arrived and seen in this image (right) for comparison, along with the new Bar-

Fits perfectly. The original Chain Bar is being restored to the black painted finish. Original 1/4" Chain is now as new and will I'll carry out a test to see how each chain size performs. Meanwhile it is all ready to do some cutting, hopefully tomorrow -

Below are some photo's of the traction engine built by my late father.

It's an M.E. 1" scale traction engine designed by Henry Greenly and built by my father in 1946/47. My mother said it took him 18 months. Home from work, dinner then shed. I sometimes wonder how I got born.
I haven't a clue how to run it and if memory serves, it hasn't run for 50 years. It will need pressure testing etc before it does. As to value?

Had a chance to check the underside of this beast the other day.
Checked and found it has a really good bright spark  .
Clean Disc, Blades are very good and just need freeing up.
No holes in the deck area, only surface rust and caked grass. Tyres good-

At the drive end, all look's good with a little Oil creep and grease weep around the joints.
Clutch Pivot is seized (frozen), so nothing serious hopefully.
Going to check all the Clutch/Drive parts over.
Being an older model, the Wheels are retained by Castellated Nuts 'n' Pins, so should be straight forward.

Great pics of the offspring with their Rides. I remember the Bantam project  . I bet they are both really happy to have a Dad that can produce these excellent restored machines. Hopefully it will lead them down the same path.
Weights are the finishing touch to the appearance and practicality of the Case. Excellent work

Thanks for the diagram, have found the stop switch on the bay of E along with an air filter foam and a 3.5mm pull start rope. All for a little over a tenner. The rope which came with the mower was a 6mm one and wouldnt return correctly and the air filter was an old decorators sponge...... and I mean old!!!

I got the wheel weight painted, and installed today. I have it set up with 115 pounds per wheel right now. I like this setup quite well. My younger sons, and I were out playing with our machines a bit today, and I took a pic. The 1952 Bantam 3000 belongs to Danny, and the vintage mini bike with the early 50's Briggs Model 8 belongs to Nathan. Thanks

They've been around for some time. Made by Tyzack of L.ondon (I used to work with the Grandson of the Founder).
Here's some info and story for them if your not already aware.

Fuel tubing and filter arrived and now fitted.
Sorted the Flywheel Balance issue out by making a brass boss with the same taper. push fit on a 3/16" dia Silver Steel rod.

With the Flywheel fitted on the Rod, it can be placed on two 3/8" dia rods resting on Vee Blocks-

Sure enough, it showed out of balance with the broken fan blade. Progressively added weight  until balanced, then weighed the required additional weight....just under 1 gram.

Fortunately, I found a 2 BA screw would fit in an existing hole near the broken fin it was also near tapping as well.
Screwed in tight, but some Loctite was added to be sure

A few minute adjustments and it's pretty well balanced now, so all bolted back on.
Have a really strong spark at the Plug with very little pulling effort. Should be running next week.

I finally got around to taking a short video. I'll try, and get one of it tilling soon. I also took a couple pics of this beast next to my WH C-160 for a size comparison. This Case is so much larger than my other garden tractors. Although the C-160 is a 16hp, and the case is only a 14hp, its physically a much bigger machine. Hope you like the short video. Thanks

I got alot of it put back together today. I still have a fair amount of work left, but it won't be long.

Started bolting it back together today, and managed to get most of the decals on, which went on beautifully. The spot on the hood where the leaf landed did leave a mark, but when the paint is fully cured, Ill wet sand, and buff it out. This thing is starting to look to good to go back to working for a living.   It will go back to work though.  Here are a few pics. Thanks

Hoping the Generator part is ok as it's totally enclosed.

Engine is very good, turns over smoothly, has clean oil and all there. I'm loving the heavy duty Spark Plug Suppressor Cover and Lead . Even the anti-vibration mounts are good.

Here's a few pics of this dinky little Chainsaw now that I've cleaned it up a little.
No frills or safety features here. 'Hand Protection Plate' and 'Felling Spike' were an Optional Extra in those days. This is the Model 25 or XXV.

Confirmed date is 1971 from the Date Stamp on the Tillotson Carb and the Muffler style (if it can be called that).

Introduced as an Anniversary Model in 1971 (25years) by Beaird- Poulan and features all metal fabrication (diecast). Manual Oil feed and 14" Bar.

Only problem I have to sort is that a Fin is missing on the Flywheel. Fuel tubing and filter to replace.

Original Saw Chain and Bar are virtually unworn, so will be re-used. Runs on 16-1 ratio. Have plenty of use for it this year. I Think the Colour Scheme was designed to prevent people using it with a Hangover

Very nice find Richard! It looks to be in great shape, and it must have been intended to be around radio equipment, and such for it to have the shielded plug, and wire. Briggs didn't change the design much thru the years, as here is one of mine from 1945.

Anglo Traction reacted to wheeledhorseman in Swan Generating Set
Here we have a ‘Swan’ generator set that I got about fifteen years ago. The guy that sold it to me said it was military and certainly a number of features pointed to that being true i.e. the bronze green paint, the connection terminals were the same as used on military lighting sets, and perhaps most compelling, the fact that the spec included brass drain off cocks for the sump and gas tank (after all who else would specify costly additions like that?)

On the other hand there was not one piece of hard evidence in the form of a tag to confirm it as military and all attempts to identify it as military or otherwise failed at that time.

I last ran it perhaps eight years ago and it’s been gathering dust on the workshop shelf ever since. In fact I wouldn’t have given it a thought were it not for seeing a photo posted on the forum by Steve D where in the background was a gen set looking very much like mine as far as I could see. It spurred me on to research again and since I last tried a couple of sites had popped up with the answers.

Turns out it is military and is a bit of Cold War memorabilia. These were built by two different companies for the Royal Observer Corps who manned posts which included an underground bunker. Their main role was to report nuclear bomb bursts and monitor background radiation from installations like this:

Lighting in the little underground bunker was provided by batteries like these.

If I’m not mistaken those are NiFe cells with a pd of 1.2 volts, hence the crate of five cells represents a 6 volt battery. Two of these provided the 12 volts for the lighting and the need for a 12 volt charging system. The batteries remained in the bunker and were charged from the surface outside.

The gen sets were made either by A C Morrison (Engineers) Ltd of Southampton or Engine Applications Ltd of Banbury. Documents refer to the engine as Villiers but it is in reality a JAP (Villiers having absorbed JAP in 1959). It drives a three phase permanent magnet alternator rated at 300 watts and the case contains full wave rectifier diodes to produce the DC output.

So there you have it – if you see one at a show you’ll know what it was for. The name ‘Swan’ for the Banbury produced version came from their address in Swan Close Road. The company was founded in 1959, became RTD Swan in 1973, and Swan Generators in 1986. They still make generating sets at Banbury today but nothing this small, their range is 20kVA to 2200kVA.
