  1. A scrap book of cuttings and adverts was acquired from the son of a former Tarpen employee many years ago

In it is this article from Farm Implement and Machinery News 1967

In the text it mentions the machines were developed by Edward Bals and quotes  "The new sprayers, to be marketed in Great Britain by the Tarpen Engineering co Ltd, 7 Coronation Road London"

Second paragraph of text, second photo

Hi Paul, it has been a while since we last had a catch-up and we must do so once the current situation is over. Over the Christmas break we picked up another Cub Cadet original as a parts machine but since then we have managed to find a lot of parts that means we may have two viable tractors

Hi Alan, I hope you are well and it will be good to catch up soon. Mum was not impressed and we have not worked out where to store them yet  I have never seen the roads this empty before, even in the middle of the night

Hi Andrew, unbelievable to find these two 30 minutes down the road. We were looking at the G12 today and  in the daylight it is clear that it has a green chassis, the same colour as the HT23 which make it even rarer. I have never seen another with a green chassis.

    Stay safe an well everyone

    Joseph

Yes mate we will have a catch up in due course, stay safe !

    Thanks for posting those Paul.

Plus the added bonus of the spark plug sign on your ceiling! That's cool too

Oh yeah the giant Champion plug arrived Friday, thought that would look good in the Wheelhorse shed !

  4. The UK firm of Tarpen were distributors of the Turbair sprayer with O&R power during the 1960's.

The firm also produced a Mini engine setup with O&R power that could be used on some of their tools.

I have two in my collection at the moment, one on a Tarpen 33 hedge trimmer, the other on a cultivator...

Looks like the Tarpen mini-engine to me (another UK only tool), possibly fitted to a hedge trimmer attachment (hard to tell).

    David

indeed it is a Tarpen mini engine and you are correct David it has a long hedge trimmer attached

I had to go all the way to Birmingham to pick that one up, worth the journey though :D
