Went with a mate to Nothamptonshire today & picked up this beast. Mate brought it, I towed it home to Sussex :D

Needs some tlc, fitted with a 20hp flat twin engine & a monster 60in deck B) c/w power steering!

Thought it was time to have a GREEN tractor on here :hide:  :P

Anybody got any info on it & a set of rear lift arms

As I said its not mine, but I should have brought it

Its a kohler engine which has not been run for 3/4 years.

Plan will be to get it going & see how it runs.

Martin the owner says he will clean it up & service it. The fuel tank needs flushing out & I noticed the cooling fins on the engine are blocked

The deck blade spindles are tight & needs work. He may get that sand blasted along with the rear fender & repainted.

He does want to use it & have some fun :D

I just cant believe its got power steering!! We did not now that until we got there to look at it

Just an update.

We tried starting the beast last week but she was not having any of it

Took the carb off & found it full of water! So having it cleaned & a carb overhaul kit from Mike Hitchins should sort it.

Few other issues we spotted, ie some wiring & clean the fuel tank out.

A slow project at the min!

Chris,

Once you have it running, it will be really interesting to see how you thinks this compares with a Bolens large frame.

The cooling fins on these Kohler K-series twins are a nightmare when the tractor is on grass cutting duty. I am always having to remove the tin and clean the fins on my HT23.

I did notice the fins are quite blocked on this JD.

I have said to my mate Martin (the owner) we need to get the air line out or shes going to over heat :o

Never had any trouble with 1886 when mowing

Bit of an update on this tractor. We have had it running, but only on 1 cylinder  .

Checked everything & still runs like a sick pig, so pushed back into the barn for now.

When I get more time we will have another go :D
