4x4forks 258 #1 Posted September 10, 2016 CAN YOU TELL WHAT IT IS YET!! Who can recognise the parts ?? After I changed the engine on my Gutbrod 1032 I had a very heavy mower deck. I also had a small Murrey ride on with no deck. I have several areas of grass which are right upto very large hedges so it has alot of suckers growing underneath. I made this trailed mower to get under the hedge and cope with the brush without getting scratched when mowing. it can be towed directly behind a machine or to either side. It is the hole Gutbrod deck and the rear chassis mounting the engine from the Murry. Hight adjustable via old jocky wheel and solid rear tyres. It proves to be that successful I had to put flaps at the rear as it was throwing sticks 20ft out the back. 13 Alan, the showman, nigel and 10 others reacted to this

Triumph66 1,256 #3 Posted September 10, 2016 I agree with Chris. I like the way it been put together; it almost look like a purpose made manufactured implement. 1 4x4forks reacted to this

ranger 373 #12 Posted September 13, 2016 Great bit of kit My version of this involves a quad, front mounted flail mower with castor wheels on the front, I added an adjustable pair of wheels at the rear, and towed it round to cut the paddocks. I've now modified it again by cutting off the castors and adding a towbar which flips over for centre or offset towing. First pic shows the four wheeled version. 2 4x4forks and Triumph66 reacted to this

4x4forks 258 #14 Posted September 14, 2016 Great looking bit of kit. I am thinking of making something to mow over the edge and down into a ditch. Thinking along the lines of a push rotory mower side mounted to allow over the bank.
expeatfarmer 591 #15 Posted September 14, 2016 I have a need for a machine that mows over banking , I am told it must be either two stroke or electric because it will seize due to lack of oil if you tilt a four stroke too far.

You could try using a hydraulic drive, by using a suitable pump, a motor, oil cooler and tank ( and hoses) you could use the tank as a counterbalance for the arm and cutting head. By plumbing the motor directly to the pump, you don't need any control valves, just a relief valve if you stall the blade. Driving the pump from a pto will give you on/off control. What about one of those robot mowers the council use, Jonathan? Very expensive I know. A late friend of mine fixed a strimmer to the front of his ride on for mowing a short bank in his garden.
