gutbrod with new rotovator hard at work
minky and 3 others reacted to 4x4forks for a post in a topic
Its more like a race for the keys and I lost. He is 6ft4" and his legs are longer than mine. We were using 2nd gear as it was a faster rotor speed . I made a much simpler locking frame that bolted to the rear linkage drop bracket. Quick to attach and de-attach and worked a treat. I will take photos and post . My son got the second gutbrod up and running and used it to roll the soil after seeding. Not bad after not running for 10 years . -

New workshop

Well I'm getting there, millions of nails put in with nail gun, managed to save most of the tounge and groove inside and on the roof by punching the nails through, as prying it off just split it. Thankfully the felt was put on with small nails so that came off easy enough and will go back on, about 30 black bags of fibreglass insulation came out of it and countless massive spiders! -

Having trouble with the Black Horse at the weekend and finding dirt in the fuel tank, I thought I'd check the other tractors tanks. The C-81's tank was spotless and though that has no filter on the tap, but an inline one, runs perfect. The C-125 does have a filter on the tap, but no in line one. Shone a torch in the tank and This is what I got out of it. I know one thing, there's nowt' wrong with the tap filter. -

That's been in there since I got it 7 - 8yrs ago. How the leaves got in is any ones guess. Anyway, the days been well spent. I now know all three have clean tanks, pipes and carbs. They all also now have inline filters. I also checked my jerry cans. All clean. -
1 pointSpotted this on eBay only about 6 miles from me, went to see it and done a deal. It's fully insulated and built superbly, the doors are about 4 inches thick and the guy reckons it is warmer than his cottage! He had it built with a total cost of £6k I paid less than £1k for it, just need to get it to bits, lay a concrete pad and rebuild it! Easy! Shame none of you live closer I could do with a hand! It's going to weigh a lot! 10ft X 16ft, wil take up all the patio

Ransomes MG6
pmackellow reacted to Ransomes256 for a post in a topic
I recently purchased a quantity of new spares and as part of the arrangement had to take the tractor. This is a very good MG6 serial number 12304 circa 1957 which does not appear to have seen much work. Fitted with a Ransomes 600cc petrol engine and standard 3 speed gearbox with the optional PTO and Hydraulic rear lift. The lift cylinder is the large version and all works well. The Amal 356/1 carburettor has been serviced and the magneto overhauled. Compression was low so valves have been lapped in and bore is on standard size. Engine starts and runs very sweet. Tracks are exceptional as are the drive wheels and weight carrying rollers. Ideal as a working machine or for ploughing matches. Looking for £1500 -

Wheel Horse C105
woz reacted to meadowfield for a post in a topic
the one at the front without a stack had a full rebuild - i.e. engine, piston, rings, seals, gaskets as well as rear end. Would be a very reliable buy! -

1 pointSome years back, I acquired a non running Mountfield B&S 11hp Ride on. Deck was mainly rust and well beyond recovery, but it would be ok for the grandkids to ride round the green on. I got it running, Fitted an old car battery under the seat. Threw some paint at it and the result is below. That's number 3 grandson. Now pushing 14 and nearly as tall as me. Back to the Mountfield. It has been covered up in a corner outside for about two years. At the forthcoming HVC rally we have an auction, so I thought it time to get rid of it. Into the workshop and up on the lift. Not expecting it to start or the battery even turn the engine, I turned the key. The engine flew round. Not bad for a battery that must be ten years old at least. So in with some go go juice and try again. Nothing and no spark. Plus the throttle/choke cable had broken. OK! It can go as is. So I left it on the ramp to do other things. Just before I knocked off at 4-30, I gave the key a turn in passing. The thing BURST INTO LIFE. Really made me jump as it blew the well rotten silencer end off as it started. Got me thinking should I keep it. But common sense says no. So off to auction it will go next weekend.
