4 pointsGot the weight frame done today. It would be better with the bottom being a full size 1/4 plate to sit the weights on. But I haven't got any. One day. That piece of alli chequer plate, fastened down, will suffice till then.

Downsizing in Metalwork
Ian and 2 others reacted to Anglo Traction for a post in a topic
Thanks.. Will be good to get them working under steam again. I'm sure you'll do all the safety checks first with old engines. Often the rubber seals like on the Sight Glass are perished and suspect the Seals/Glands on the Piston, Valve and Regulator Rods may need checking. They were likely packed with Graphited Yarn. Not sure how/if Norm's Dad's Engine had the Steam Oil administered for the Piston and Valve?, as I can't see a lubrication system in the pics. Hope the book helps. Some engines like to have a mix of Coal and Charcoal, or just the latter to produce good heat. Also the Grate gaps size can be the cause, or so I have read!. Done a little more on mine. Made up all the Pipe work and fittings for the Water Pump- -
3 pointsBest keep your eyes open for a big red van. The Showman will be over for those logs, given the chance.

Amberley Spring Mechanicals Day
expeatfarmer reacted to pmackellow for a post in a topic
According to their flyer, Amberley Museum in West Sussex had their Spring Mechanicals Day today... We went for a look as we had not visited the museum for many years. It is based in the old Chalk Pits at Amberley and has many interesting displays including a Southdown Bus garage, Industrial railway, the actual kilns themselves, a large woodturning and woodcraft area and many more attractions, well worth a visit. Lurking by the bus stop, in direct sight of the café we found Mr Showman and Steve Durrant with their machines, there was also plenty of other machinery to look at. Here's some photos...
