Spent a bit of time on the engine today, Cowling primered and painted, points and new condenser fitted, flywheel fitted, coil refitted. Its all back together and had it running for nearly an hour and pleased it runs so well. I will do some PHOTO's for you tomorrow when I get it out of the van

I must have missed this thread Chris. What a great little machine you sniffed out. Good to know you're not entirely devoted to Red Tractors. ...... That must be a Keeper. I presume you will be at a certain Garden Centre tomorrow?. I was hoping to get down, but had to change plans. Maybe meet up sometime. Regards Richard

Have now started fitting up the Gem. First on was the wheels followed by the radiator. On the nearside wheel I had to fit an extra wheel disc to act as a spacer due to the tyre rubbing on the bellhousing (such a shame the original Dunlop tyres are no longer available.) This in turn will mean the springs need shortening. I have also trail fitted the bonnet. Now it has dried Im hoping that I may get away with sanding it smooth with 2500 wet and dry.

Im afraid none of you were quite right. This evening I took advantage of the lack of rain and sprayed it up. On the whole it came out ok, however I think im going to have to flatten back the bonnet and redo it, as I not 100% happy with the finish.

I went up to a friends place on Saturday not 20 miles from here to collect a set of rear wheel weights and while i was there i saw the little tractor they came off. It was hiding in a dark container looking all forlorn to be losing part of its rearend so a deal was struck and it was loaded in my van. Its in good condition and will enjoy its new home with the Horses. Heres a few photos for you to look at and i need a new coil if anyone has one.

Put the decals from Titch on the fuel tank today, then ran the engine for the 1st time properly. Had it running for about 1/2 hour, will need a tune up once refitted to the gearbox and the throttle cable is refitted, but it runs well!

Have reassembled the handlebars, fitted the new grips and throttle cable.....

Look forward to seeing those photos Chris. It's a great little machine the 600 is.
