    Got carried away again.

Wheels on my Saxon trailer have got a bit scruffy over the years. So this morning I decided to give them a freshen up. So off they came, but I think I went a tad to far.

    C-Saw

Chromer C-Saw all done for now. Decided to leave the tank handle shinie and no new paint. That can be done by the next person. Found a chrome muffler to go on there too. Had a bit of a struggle with assembly. These have plenty of tough to get to screws. First the crank bound up after engine assembly and had to pull it apart 3 or 4 times because of a roller slipping out each time. Finally got that good to go then assembled like the last pics. Put the recoil cover on and went to do the coil cover. No go as the replacement coil I used wouldn't allow the cover. Fix the wires on the original and assemble again. That little nut on the post is very difficult to get to and the fatter wire on the repaired coil didn't want to snake behind the flywheel. Cover fits perfect this time BUT, forgot to install the governor vein. Take it apart and do it all over again and those reverse cover slot screws are a pain with the engine on the saw base not to mention the worst one is the back of the coil cover. Also got zapped pretty good while pulling it over and checking for spark. Seems Tom Easley (the name engraved into it) is haunting the saw! Maybe he wants the red parts painted?

Ohlsson & Rice: how old is it?

With the information I posted with the letter from August 1960 for the first brochure, it mentioned that the three gearbox models were not yet available but would be in production soon, so that sort of dates your very early gearbox engine to sometime between the end of 1960 and early 1961, the next set of parts diagrams date from August 1961 (only two piston rings were used by then). And looking at the gears fitted, this engine looks to be a Model H (1700 R.P.M. with clutch). David

Ohlsson & Rice: how old is it?

Small world, glad I was able to get this one. Sorry to hear it didn’t go so well when you tried for it a couple years ago. As far as I know it’s the oldest engine I have.

    C-Saw

Just need to do the recoil and I'll probably paint the top handle. Then a final clean and polish as it's difficult to keep clean while working on it.

Tough day in Nova Scotia today😢

My wife and I watched our church service online yesterday morning at 9am I was then going to go putter with my O&R but things started to unfold really fast, we had an idea that there was some victims but not expecting what was to come . By 2:30 pm the shooter was shot and killed by RCMP and we started to here some online chatter of the extent of his 14hrs of terror. We went to bed last night knowing that by the morning we would know friends or family connected to this tragedy. I was correct, we did. Still possible not all victims found yet. Give your loved ones an extra hug today. 😢😞
