You are sharp eyed Charlie, certainly looks like a wheel horse
-
I think I'll use them on the next project, where did you get them from Doug?
P.s. It's easier to drop the gearbox 2 inches and then put a small block on top to lift the fender hanger. That's what I did on project C4
-
The plastic panel is in good nick, but I don't want the lighter socket and I want the electric clutch to say spots!
So rather than try butcher a nice panel, I thought I'll add a sticker, will also match the lower dash panel.
Cheers

That clearing looks like fun!
-
Took some finding, thought it was last year... But it's the year before!
-
Ahhh, here it is...
An impromptu bar on Ian's GT14 one night
They look a larger diameter...
-
Sweet, haven't we got a bar pic somewhere....
-
Nice addition to the collection Paul
-
On rockers!
They pull straight up

-
I think they pull the bands like on a horse Norm
-
cold and snowy outside, so got on inside and made a custom dash decal. The existing dash panel is in pretty good condition, but needs painting and I'd prefer the electric clutch to be something else so here is a new panel.

Ha, and the irony is I used to work for him! And he never fired anyone
-
Ha, read the thread I said it looked like an 800, then by design it was definitely newer than 1969...
-
1972 commando 800, 3 speed, 8 hp kohler
-
what engine, how many gears and is there a model number plate under/on the hoodstand. Guessing 1-0130....
Btw it's later than 1969 because of the hood and footplates, engine looks like an 8hp kohler - and I think I spy an old style battery tray
-
awesome what is it? - looks like a commando 800.
-
Seen the octopus before, bet that's a handful to operate unless you have 8 hands
-
-
I guess A series engines were one of the first to share engine and gearbox! I wonder now many have topped up with ep90 by mistake...
-
Like everyone else I've suffered from old fuel just not making things run right if at all.
But I've also experience of leaving my quad for 3 years in the garage and turning on the fuel and it just starting!
-
Only one thing for it
I need to paint some stuff, but at zero degrees outside it's gonna have to be inside. So firstly I need to warm the piece to be painted and the paint.
Before spraying outside for 30 seconds and back in to dry
At least it's a bit of progress, hopefully missus is done cooking for the night
-
I said 10w40, but the sticker says 10w30. But as it's always colder here then 40 is better anyway
-
It does sound wrong using engine oil, but times have moved on. Things have improved and engine oil on modern cars is used for the gearbox/diff as well....
My C101 has 10w40 in the transmission too for the last 4 years. Only downside is it leaks out faster
-
They stopped using dextron ATF fluid in around 1976. All the later oil stickers changed over...
-
The same 10w40 is what we use
