meadowfield got a reaction from CNew in 1964 Cub cadet 100
After 10 years of exclusive WH ownership, I’ve turned to the dark side.
picked this up from the Essex coast the other night after a mammoth 11 hour round trip.
it’s in average condition, not much rust. But has the scars of an engine transplant. It’s a tidy job, but they’ve chopped the hood and chassis...
looking for a few bits:
kohler k241 engine
dunlop implement tyre 6-12

No shame in going Yellow Mark!. Always liked these myself. Hope all's well.
I think the giveaway in finding the right spec of K241 is the effort someone has gone to in shoehorning and chopping out to fit that engine.
The correct spec is K241-a (not 241s) spec should be 46700d and used the delco remy starter gen. Then again I'm no expert, but the mating of the engine to the drive is the relevant bit.
I suppose it depends if you're planning to put it back to close original?.
Good to see some more build projects on here though. I'll check in more often.
Regards.

meadowfield reacted to Ian in New Workshop Build
With the new workshop finally 95% water tight the time had come to start moving stuff.
A big thank you to Nigel for helping me move all the big stuff
The new pad starting to fill up.
As the old place get's more empty..
When one of the most important tools get's packed away, you just know you are done at the place..
Padlock going on...
And clamped up.....
It's been a fun 5 odd years with lot's of good builds and fun times
All of which means my new workshop looks like this!!!
A quick bench has been built, not quite at the "working kettle" stage yet, but getting there..
Some space has been made inside, but I can't really sort out where things are going (I do have some idea) until the rest of the inside is clad.

meadowfield reacted to Anglo Traction in Downsizing in Metalwork
Thanks Ewan.
I fancied a change last few weeks, as it has been a bit cold.
So I turned my hand to learning to steam bend and shape some hardwood for the shafts, even though I'm making a steel framed drawbar to connect to the T/Engine.
The shafts came out well as a matched pair and have nearly finished all the 'Ironwork' fittings which were a bit fiddlely to shape in a small size-
I'm a bit slow on the tank work, as I need to plan the stages before I begin to rivet/solder up the sections......then there is Xmas!.

meadowfield reacted to the showman in Winter Project
Dug this out from the storage shed and thought it would make a little winter project, I’ve got another one somewhere in bits so more rummaging when time permits.
A little challenge to build the pair together for next year’s shows.

Forgot how so very complicated it is to build wheels in this manner. Last lot were 35 years ago!. Happy with progress though.
With the spokes secured in the hubs in the right places, the covers were soldered in place first, then I began meticulously setting each brass letter in place around the Hubs
to replicate the 'Cast In' lettering. I had planned it out way back when I first made the hub parts-
I used a dirty steel washer to hold the letters in place and bolting it all up to keep the hub parts lined up while I 'cooked' it to sweat the letters into a thin bed of solder.
After removing the retaining bolt/washer-
After an initial clean up and bonding check-
Still more machining to do before finally riveting them up

meadowfield got a reaction from HeadExam in a few upgrades
a few of you have seen my field - all over the place and full of reeds, thistles and nettles. A strimmer doesn't work and a wheel horse deck has no chance. So I have gone large.
A 1.45m flail - which really make the tractor sweat
don't have many pics as I was mowing! took half a day to get through 2.5 acres of thick grass and a tank of diesel
picked up a trailer at the same time, that helps too!

meadowfield reacted to Anglo Traction in On a Roll with these now !.
For many years, I've wanted to be able to roll sheet metal (in small sizes).
From shaping the nickel silver cleading on my traction engine to making fuel tanks and small exhaust mufflers.
So after saving up the Workshop pocket money, I've finally got a set of Mini Bending Rolls-
Quite heavy duty rollers for a 300mm wide unit and steel geared. Plenty big enough for all the jobs I have for it, and at 14kgs, just unbolts from the bench to be stored
out of the way. ....I'll get around to making some Swaging Rolls one day
