Old Tankman reacted to the showman in The Showmans new Toy
Back last summer while I was at a mates barn having a rummage, right at the back in the darkness I found a red tractor that ive never seen before.
After a bit of research I found that it was built by Toro for one year and because of poor sales was dropped.
The dealer had 10 and offered them at a deal and my mate bought 3.
Two were used for a contract that he had then parked up and the third is still new and not assembled.
The one I have bought is a Toro GMT 230 1978, It has a Kohler 23 hp engine, hydraulic deck lift and bends in the middle.
It was parked up in the barn in the late 90s after doing 170 hours work and left until I spotted it. After fitting a makeshift fuel tank and a good battery it fired straight up with everything working.
Have to say i'm chuffed to bits with it and sounds really nice, awesome thing to drive

Old Tankman got a reaction from AKAMick in Allis-Chalmers
Found an AC, great shape after paint, lights and now ag's.
Engine ran fine but, had a 16 hp on the shelf.
Grandson is keeping the driveways graded.

The box, I have one on each tractor, is a toolbox for the older Massey Ferguson tractors.

Doing a bit of tiding up in the workshop today, I came across a couple of reversing lights I bought at a Land Rover show years ago. This gave me an idea for one of them. The result is in the photo's below.
Should help when ploughing at night.

Good weather and a dry day means mowing the lawn. We occasionally collect the clippings and dump them up the field. Here's a few pics whilst we were up there

Old Tankman got a reaction from 4x4forks in Work Horse
A friends Mom flipped his Work Horse on it's side 10 years ago.
Horse went to the dealer, repaired and a new 48" SD deck. Parked in his barn after repairs. Never used again.
Cleaning out his barn I offered, "I'll haul the tractor away 'No Charge." Leon Redbone agreed.
After cleanup, a bit of paint, added the Dial-A-Height, machine is excellent.
Didn't care for all gray, belt guards are now Rustoeum Regal Red. Coarse skateboard grip tape on the foot rests, new seat.

Old Tankman got a reaction from nigel in Work Horse
Grandsons are claiming all the rides but, they have to earn 'em. The roller worked but, drives needed a little more packing.

Old Tankman reacted to slf-uk in Bolens HT23
I am not sure if I have introduced my HT23 on here before. I bought the tractor in 2009 and I mainly use it for grass cutting duties
Last year I lifted the deck and one of the deck lift bolts broke, I then managed to rip up the wood threshold on the door of my workshop trying to drive it in with the deck dragging on the ground. I have been a bit busy so it has taken me until now to get around to fixing it.
First I remove the old lift bolts, looks like someone has been here before as they should not be made out of M12 threaded rod
I then pulled one off my HT20 so I could see what they should look like
I then made some replacement parts
then I made a quick frame to hold the parts in place for welding
I even gave them a quick coat of paint before fitting
I can't believe what a difference it makes, the deck lift has never been this good. Another job done.

Old Tankman reacted to pmackellow in New addition to the Cub Cadet collection
The Cadet 81 that has featured on this forum a bit has found a new home in sunny Sussex
I collected it from Johns this morning, lovely to see him again and meet Alan for the first time
We had a good look around but nothing else caught my eye
Tractor now home and will go to Tractorfest tomorrow
Thanks again to John and Alan, and to Mr Showman for his input
Photos show the Cadet as loaded at Johns, then on the way home, then at home, I have already found a gear knob that fits and
cleaned the tractor up a bit
