    Welding cast iron

You can get special rods for cast iron. Do the prep in the usual way, but warm up the cast iron before welding. That looks as if it would fit in the oven. When the wife's out of course.
  2. I always fancied a Berkeley. That one in the last photo looks to maybe have a mini engine, due to the extended arches.
  3. Thanks Neil. A little dodgy I would think.
  4. I had a Wolseley self propelled mower years ago. If I remember correctly it look very much like that one in the photo's. The engine went bang and I scrapped it. But. the complete rear axle is still up at the farm. I can check if you like?
  5. What was their purpose, Neil?

    BMB PRESIDENT

Interesting to see where they were built. My father worked for Brockhouse at Crossens during W2 and just after. Never mentioned the tractors but he worked in the toolroom, then on the Indian Brave motorcycles.
  7. If you left the axle as is, you could have three seats. Driver/pilot in the middle and a mug passenger each side.
  8. Oh yes they have. See 'Why Not'.
  9. That would be interesting to see in operation. You'll have to tap the customer up for a viewing and take a video/photo's.
  10. Today, well yesterday afternoon actually, I decided to attack the C-81. The original fixed jet carb was cleaned up, cleaned out and re-assembled. The float bowl is the correct one as it is the same bowl as the C-120. Difference being the 120 had a gasket which I copied. Re fitted the cleaned up carb today and started up. Ran a bit better, but the throttle and choke had to be juggled. I wasn't happy with the throttle action. Rather stiff compared to the C-125s. So all that was removed, cleaned up and replaced. Not a lot of difference made. So back to starting it p and playing with the idle screw. At one point it stopped and refused to re start. This had me a little perplexed. That was until I looked in the petrol tank. I could see the bottom. Now with fuel in, off we went again. Things are better now but not as I would like. Still can't get a nice smooth idle, but it runs and drives ok at wider throttle openings. Another thing on the list is a quieter exhaust. This one is a bit too noisy for my liking.
  11. A southern version 4x4 centre pivot, Nigel.?
  12. Thanks Charlie. Just one question. The photo between the traction engine and the thresher. Just what were you taking a photo of?
  13. Impressive. Wouldn't mind a run over, but a bit far for a day.
  14. Thanks for the info, Chris. Does a very nice job.
  15. Could be the start of a new sport. Mobility scooter racing.
  16. Question for others who use one. What grade media do you use? I've got 80-120 Aluminium oxide but think it may be a bit fine/soft for steel.
  17. I've heard of strangler but can't remember if it was a Chinese/Japanese or American translation/expression.
  18. I got myself a blast cabinet and very good it is. Only problem being dust. So I fitted a dust extractor.
