  1. Hello Paul, yes ever so sorry I couldn't make it, always next time and that would be great, I can send you over some money through pay pal for postage tomorrow. thanks
  2. Hello all, Today was the Sussex meet and greet, But sadly relying on my dad to taxi me everywhere as I haven't booked in for my test yet is proving to be a bit of a pain, I wanted to attend the meet and greet event as it would of been nice to see some friendly faces and some great pieces of machinery, and I heard they have a mean breakfast there too but hey I'm sure there will be another time! Anyway my dad was rather set minded when he told me he couldn't take me to the meet and greet as he wanted to go to the local car boot sale, (first of the season apparently that's something to get excited about) He did pop into the bring buy and sell and the hassocks garden center, which wasn't too bad also got a little bit there. I wasn't too Impressed to say the least, however these few purchases made it a good day,... This tap and die set with lots of pieces and the tool box was from the car boot sale for £5 for the lot, I may never use it but I couldn't turn it down The two pullers where 50p each from the bring buy and sale and the grease gun was only 50p as well. I was well chuffed
  3. Hello All, I don't visit this section of the forum as much as I do some of the others, but It appears now I can contribute, I now own a 'Pedestrian Operated Machine' This morning I went to Ardingly Collective Sale to have a look about, It's the first time I've ever been and I'm pleased I did. I saw Chris and Paul a few times throughout the day, I'm not too sure if they managed to get anything, there was a wheel horse commando 7 up for auction but I don't know if either of them two got it or not... I'm sure they will tell us soon enough! I managed to get my self another small project, Its only what I can assume to be a Farmers Boy Minorette I've done a little research and it seems to match the ones I have been finding, If anybody knows anything or has any information on these machines, it would be greatly appreciated if you could share it with me I only paid £21.80 £1.80 of that was buyers premium etc, so I was chuffed that I can now grow my collection get this restored and have it as a show piece, and maybe even work it from time to time... Its nice to have something different from ride on's all the time,
  4. Oh yes I agree, a full saftey system will have to be installed before he goes on a test drive, and Im more than sure I'll have to get his mothers approval first too!
  5. Thank you Richard, There not kept outside, but they aren't exactly kept in a warm place, still get a little damp and cold, so I guess condensation is an issue as well as for water getting into the oil, I will look into putting some grease around the bottom of the rubber boots also., And it's the 6 speed 1-2-3 + R Hi-Lo. The tractor was jacked up at the front and the right side, so the drain plug was at a good angle. That's what I thought as well, I tend to use it in 2nd when at shows also, so maybe i'll stop doing that and try using a different gear I guess like you say 2nd has just had a bit more of a harder life then 1st and 3rd has..
  6. Over the last 13 months my nephew has been (mucking in) well sitting watching, he loves sitting and watching anything to do with machinery, he used to love sitting in this walker in front of his favorite machine which was the Lister D Type engine, now hes out of his walker, he likes to sit on the machines and have a poke and a prod, and if i have the machines out when he comes over he can have a ride on my lap, today he tried out his seat I got him a while back, (never actually drove with it today) hes still a bit young for that sort of thing, but i think he approved of it, lets hope one day he has a collection of his own, do any of you have sons, daughters, or family members of a young age that enjoy this sort of thing?
  7. here is a picture of the old gear oil.... yum....
  8. Okay so I drained the gearbox on my raider 10 this morning, the old oil and gunk that came out makes me think it hadn't been changed for many years... anyway I replaced it with the correct oil needed and the correct amounts, And the whining has stopped in gear 1 and 3 but still whines whilst driving in gear 2? Is this anything to worry about?
  9. Very local one to me then, what times this start? Opening time of the garden center or?

  15. Hello All, Today being such a nice day down here in the south I thought I would dust my tractors off and give them a good run up, the cub cadet went without problems, the wheel horse raider 10 on the other hand was a bit of a pig to get going, but now its dried out it seems to be fine, maybe it just got a little damp. Right now the real reason I'm here, whilst driving round i noticed the gearbox on the raider was whining a fair bit, so i checked the oil and it seems to be quite well... I dont know, it just looks like its a little low in fact just looks like it could do with a complete change I was wondering what gear oil shall I use? What gear oil do you use?
