Finally, back together. All that’s left now is to gas it up and let it blow!
-
That turned out great; nice bracket and mount!
-
That’s a bummer to hear but I can certainly understand - I’ve been through a couple of those types of situations as well.
-
I’ve never seen one come up either.
-
I haven’t seen any material like this in the 0.035-36 thickness.
-
With fresh gaskets cut I’m finally getting the engine back together. Always fun putting all the little roller bearings back in place, especially the ones on the end of the connecting rod while sliding over the crank pin.
-
Yeah, life got crazy busy with the new job and move and it fell on the back-burner until recently.
-
Thanks David, I saw a couple of those listings but not the spring.
-
First set of gaskets are now cut. I measured the thickness vs the original gasket as well and it looks like the original material is close to 0.034” whereas the new Garlock 2900 material is about 0.030”. Hopefully the difference isn’t an issue once installed... It also seems the older gasket material is a little stiffer while the new material has slightly more squish
-
I’m going to mount it up and see how it fits. I might be able to get a couple more...
-
Just had a really nice visit with an engineer buddy of mine from MN and he dropped off the 3D printed vent for the Little Wonder Trimmer. This is awesome!
-
FYI - I just contacted the seller and his bottom price is $175.
-
I haven’t done anything to it yet, just manually turned the spool to reel in the rope. I’m thinking the grease is dried out, that’s what I’m hoping anyway.
-
Excellent, thank you David!
-
I’m surprised to see that this Lancaster SLA 20 is still listed and no one has snatched it up yet. I still have to pass on it for now. Given how long the listing has been on, maybe someone can get a decent deal with a reasonable offer.
-
Cool, I’ll have to search that one. I think I’ve seen it in google searches.
The paint on the pump portion isn’t the greatest on this one but it doesn’t look like it ever was pristine originally either. Given all the surface rust and corrosion I’m thinking it was stored in an outdoor shed or garage over the years.
-
Thought I would add a little distraction from the chainsaw feud...
Here’s the latest addition, a nice Orline water pump. Needs a full clean up but I don’t think it’s been used much, if at all.
-
I’m just going to stand back and watch this one...
-
Good point John, I’ll make note of that when I assemble the head. Can’t remember the compressibility properties for this material.
-
David,
Is the Petro chainsaw the same as the Chugger Saw.
Rich,
I’ve never mailed anything to AU before but I’ll go by the post office sometime and look into it. Send me a PM with your address.

Finally received the piece of Garlock 2900 gasket material to experiment with for the cylinder head gaskets. At first glance it looks promising. I’ll take some more measurements this weekend and try cutting a sample to try out on an engine.
-
Gasket samples arrived from Eric. I’m going to take a close look this weekend and verify the dimensions and pass along any minor adjustments so hopefully he can blast them out for us.
John,
I’ll also get your NOS gaskets back in the mail to you.
-
Didn’t even think about that, rats - that would have been a great idea! I can’t believe we didn’t think of that...
-
It was the highlight of my trip! Fun to meet a fellow enthusiast and addict I wish I would have had more time to hang out and not so rushed to get to Knoxville. Looking forward to another opportunity to meet up. Thank you for welcoming me into your shop- I’m glad all the logistics worked out! That was awesome!
-
Welcome Rich! That’s a pretty neat little pump.
I can probably fix you up with a new carburetor diaphragm and gasket when you get to that point in the repair, just send me a PM when you’re ready.
