WestwoodGazelle got a reaction from pmackellow in One of the first Westwood Gazelles
Hi all, I thought you may want to see some pages from my Westwood Brochure, I haven't seen this one posted online before, and it's from the late 70's or early 80's.
There's a lot more, I have uploaded it to my Flickr account here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/153749022@N02

Ok, thank-you. That would be a great help. I am also looking for two new pulleys, so when I find some I will give you the website link.

I am looking at a pair of lights on the 'bay (new), if I decide they fit and are good, I will let you know. Not sure how old the pulley is on my Gazelle, I think I may look to get it replaced at some point, and I need to look at a way to fix the brake too because it isn't working. I will also be getting a new seat for it for my birthday

WestwoodGazelle reacted to harryt in Martin Markham Colt tractor
Picked this one up today, Martin Markham colt deluxe. Came from over the border from Wales, long journey but definitely worth it in my opinion. I have already got the 7hp version but this one had some tempting attatchments, so I had a deal with the owner. It was from a lady who's husband had passed away about 2 months ago and she was selling it, although she liked it, she wanted to let it go to a new home. It was restored around 10 years ago ( not the best restoration) but has kept the rust away and I have been told the gearbox was overhauled which is a bonus😀. Does not run currently but going to have a go tomorrow, should not be much. As you might be able to make out it was road registered, last in 1970😬, but I have the log book and original manual. It has the loader, trailer, plough, rotovator and the rear topper, all surprisingly in good condition for there age and purpose of use. Will get some more pictures tomorrow and hopefully get it running.

Thanks for the pictures of the chain steering, look very complex! It is interesting to know the history behind Westwood mowers. I am also in need of two headlights, but I have no idea where to find a pair. Will be looking in Ernest Doe. Will be getting some pulleys for next season, can't wait!

I have finally fixed the wiring issue that was causing the Gazelle's ignition switch to smoke, and I have tidied up the wiring loom, I still have some work to do but it is Ok for now, and I need a replacement front headlight
Here is a picture for WestwoodW8Gazelle of the steering system that seems to be unique to the earliest Westwoods, here's what you see on the top of the chassis below the steering column:
And here is underneath, it is in need of a clean and grease:
And here is the cover that goes over this gear and chain system, there's a couple of marks on it because unfortunately the nuts and bolts holding it on had rusted solid and rounded off, and I had no choice but to get the angle grinder out:

You are correct that GH was a Scientologist but I've never heard that it extended to the tin bashing side of things!

Certainly similar to that Atco but without researching some catalogues and Parts lists I can’t remember the distinguishing features that separate the re- badged Dynamarks from the later UK made ones.

That is really interesting and I can see some striking similarities between US Dynamarks and Westwoods:
I am sure you're right because their appearances too close to be a coincidence. The chassis and panels seem only very slightly different between Westwood and Dynamark. I would love to know what the closest equivalent Dynamark is (and it'd be cool to own one too ). I take it this is the Atco you mean:

WestwoodGazelle reacted to pmackellow in Wheelhorse R26, new addition to the fleet
Went oop North to pick this up today
It's a Wheelhorse R26 rear engine rider, fairly rare over here I would think
It's a bit rough and ready at the moment but it has the all important spec plate, a sound deck and was not dear
so a good project methinks
Not a runner but has good compression so fingers crossed
Here's some photos...

Hello Neil, yes Tecumseh engine
I know it's not everyones cup of tea (coffee if you are Ian ) but its worth saving before its turned
into a go kart, racing lawn mower or just scrapped...
Should go well with the rest of the herd...

WestwoodGazelle reacted to 4x4forks in Early xmas present !
Opps ! How did that happen ? I was driving down the road and I found this in my trailer
Just bought another tractor. Allen Oxford Motostandard with finger bar mower and including a gen owners and parts manual.
Everything works great and the only missing thing is one front indicator lens is missing .
Now need some long grass to mow .

Started the day by snapping a terminal on the ignition switch, after an hour of raking through boxes I found another one.
that fitted i went on with the fuel tank and pipes also a new filter, found a rearlight so that went on and wired up, bolted down the seat and prepared the underside of the hood.

WestwoodGazelle reacted to HeadExam in 1975 Wheelhorse C-100 Fuel Cap
Any 1-1/2" cap, like off a gas can, will work as long as it's a vented cap. Parts tree and other vendors stock the original, about 40.00 with shipping

WestwoodGazelle got a reaction from WestwoodW8Gazelle in 1978 Westwood
I will have to get you a picture of the chain and gear steering, it's pretty cool Haha! Owatrol is great because I hate the idea of things just slowly decaying, and whilst I like normal oil, it will always leave stuff a little sticky, so I find Owatrol perfect because it prevents rust but also dries.

Exactly, I noticed that the lights were wired up to the engine so that when the engine is running it not only charges the battery but also the lights run off the engine, not the battery! For a 70s machine that's pretty clever. Even I was surprised. Haha. I also came across an early Westwood, same model as yours on YouTube, but unfortunately has been adapted with bigger engine etc.

Early update today as its Friday. Wiring loom made and fitted, solenoid and ampmeter also ran wires for front and rearlights.
