You know you won't be able to stop at two machines Andrew, once you get the collecting bug it's almost unstoppable

Triumph66 reacted to ranger in 41st Haddenham steam rally, 1st day.
Yes. it is usually a very well attended show, this year the rows of tractors seem to go on forever,a large number of traction engines/rollers also, classic cars/trucks also in attendance. A stubble field available as a working area for heavy horses as well as tractors. The displays of stationary engines virtually 'surrounded' the rally site! The rally site is also just outside the next village along from the one I live in.

Today's update...
The keyway in the axle was shot, the end of the hub shot too. The end to middle was ok and useable but needed a longer key to replace the small woodruff key.
So I ordered a 1/4" end mill and used the lathe to cut a new one.
Firstly making sure the height was spot on by marking the centre of the axle, this needs shims in order to get the correct centre. The final score line can just be seen.
Then running the mill through in small passes to cut an 3 inch keyway.
Once the full cut was done here's a half together shot showing the hub, fresh key steel and axle.

Triumph66 reacted to slf-uk in Wheel Horse Gear Box Oil
I believe it is EP80 or EP90 for a WH but the specification for a Bolens is EP90, 2.5QTS if I remember correctly.
I am unsure if a WH leaks more than a Land Rover, probably a draw ;-)

Triumph66 reacted to Ian in Why are we so boring with car colours??
I thought the colour of the Ribena mobile would raise a few eyebrows
It's not that bad Norm..
You know me Paul, why play by the rules and be a sheep.. Baaa
Purple is not for everyone, but my wife rather likes it so I'm happy.. Yellow cars are cool, we had for a short while a bright yellow Seat er.. Can't remember the model.. Called it the flying banana
Very good Andrew, that made me laugh
You could have the Freelander resprayed in purple as a birthday pressie for Madeline
Well, we picked up the Ribena mobile this afternoon, and it's quite a good machine other than the radio refusing to work and then suddenly picking up a French radio station!!
I'm just happy my wife has a reliable car to drive through winter now

Hi Guy's, sorry I've been a bit slow getting the Tractorfest videos sorted.. But a start has been made.. So I don't upset my ISP by using too much bandwidth I can only upload 1 video a day..
So here's the first, Day one in the arena.. Thank you to Ben for the camera duties

Triumph66 reacted to nigel in the new project handy landy
this project was started by a mate about 5 years ago it started life as a landrover 2a He binned the bodywork, shortened the axles and prop shafts, and mounted the whole lot on a channel section chassis so that it now measures 8 foot by 4 foot.
It has Fergie front arms with Landy ball joints, and an articulated front axle, the original wheels, and an old tractor seat (cushion or padded butt required
It only has a mechanical brake on one rear wheel, so i will be sorting brakes out all round. it wants loads of work to finish it of and my intension is to fit a pto and hydrolics and start hauling wood

Looking good Ian.
I use my HT23 all the time for moving trailers. My Ifor would look good on your 6x6, it has the right number of wheels.

Triumph66 reacted to slf-uk in Wheelhorse D-160
I have this week off work with lots of outside jobs to do. This morning it was raining and as I was not feeling great I decided not to get wet. Instead I went into the workshop looking for a small job to do and I decided to look at the D-160. I rebuilt most of the mechanics about two years ago and then dumped it in the corner, so I decided to re-commission it. By the time I had it running the sun was out so I took it for a run.
The exhaust stack from a full size tractor (can't remember which one) makes it sounds great with no fumes for taking the boy for rides.
After taking it for a run it went back in the workshop and I got a Bolens out to do some real work The real reason was the D-160 does not currently have a hitch fitted and I can't remember where I put it.
