Very clever way to overcome the problem, looks great.
I have always fancied one of those bead rolling machines.
-
Looking good. I was unsure of the black look when I saw the chassis but now you have done the hood stand too I really like it. My vote would be for black on all the panels.
-
I was watching that engine too, but I got disracted by other activity and forgot to bid. I liked the fact that it also had the belt cover for the dynastart. I am pleased it went to a good home.
-
Looking good.
It looks like a hard bit will be to get the back looking right, especially with the shaped bit on the end. What's your plan?
-
Great progress.
Is that red glow from all those WH's in the background?
-
Nigel, I don't know the answer to you question however I have heard everything from "just a few" to "loads". If someone is counting, I have one.
Does anyone know the new owner?
Iain

or you could conceal it in your clothing - "is that a tractor in your pocket, or are you just pleased to see me"
-
I would love to be buying tractors at US prices, I would have a enormous collection. I wonder if I could bring one back on the plane as hand luggage?
-
Battery tray and exhaust should be easy to make, let me know if you need any dimensions. Someone in the US was making and selling the covers for those seats and Jestin at tubeframe.com does wiring harness for 45 dollars.
I had a spare air filter but that went to another collector recently.
It might be worth more but you might end up with a tractor that is not made as well and less capable

Great progress. Thanks for sorting the pictures.
-
I'm with you on this one Chris.
That RJ58 is a very nice machine, I could have never let that go.
Iain
-
Great one Chris, it looks even better in your pictures than the advert.
Iain
-
Looking good, although my neck hurts looking at the pictures
Are you planning to use cellulose for the top coat or something more exotic?
Iain
-
Looking great, fantastic progress
-
Great score, no such thing as too much firewood
-
Nigel,
It looks fantastic. I just had a quick look back at a picture when you picked it up and the difference is unbelievable.
What type of paint did you use?
-
From the information I have I can't see one being listed as an option in the UK. If anyone has one in the UK it will have probably been imported specially.
I guess if one ever did come up for sale it would ever be mega expensive or cheap because nobody knows what it is. When I see Bolens attachments for sale I always hope nobody knows what they are but that never works out and I end up paying the earth.

Tom,
From the mud on the tyres it looks like you have been having lots of fun.
Iain
-
Looks great Chris.
As I mentioned in a PM, if it has the Ross steering box like a D-series WH, I posted the part numbers in a post on Euro part of Redsquare a while back. A Ross box is really easy to rebuild and they always seem to fill up with water that runs down to steering column.
Really looking forward to hearing more about this project.

Further great work and I enjoyed the pictures and video

With you so far George. I really appreciate you sharing this knowledge and I am looking forward to following.
Iain

Great score!
Must be great to have a choice of which large frame to put it on
If you want to put it on the HT20D or HDT1000 I would have thought that it would not be too difficult to get the correct length shaft made, assuming you have the ends.
It is hard to see how it fits on the tractor from the auction pictures. It would be great if you can post some pictures once you have it on the tractor.

Andrew,
Great news that you have bought the plough.
I found a picture of my Brinley plough which may help identify the changes that have been done to yours. Maybe we can both go to Scotland to learn about this ploughing stuff.
-
No problem, I knew you would highlight the best way forward
-
I am sure everyone is getting excited about seeing action pictures of your tiller.
Sounds like you are looking out for the next Bolens. In my opinion the round hood Bolens are the most attractive. As I'm sure you know, a 600 is as rare as rocking horse poo and if you do find one don't forget that they are shorter than the other tubeframe tractors and the attachments are not interchangeable.
You missed the 900 from your list. They are a little odd in that they have a fiberglass instead of metal cover over the rear wheels.
I have a 600 and a 900 but would really like a 800 and 1000 too. If one comes up that we both see we will either have to have a gentleman's agreement or fight for it, could be fun.
