  1. Looking good, not much WH left now
  2. I like that. Excuse my ignorance, does it have an weight inside the drum that rotates on the spindle? Iain
  3. I think you forgot about rule number 1, it is always our fault
  4. Nigel, Sometimes it has to be done. These machines are always better than the engines that are put in them. A friend in the US has had good results from a Vanguard and also from a Chinese diesel in a Bolens. I am looking forward to the thread. Iain
  5. You guys are well hard, it would be a brown trousers moment in my workshop
  6. Lord Mower Land does look the part. Is that the old fashion version of an electronic tag he is wearing around his neck
  7. Chris, Where have all the HT's gone!! I have similar regrets about one that came up just after I bought mine, it's really not good that so few come up for sale. Yes, we do need to find a way to meet up soon. BTW. we need to watch out for Andrew, we now have some serious competition for any Bolens that comes up for sale. Don't tell him I said so though

    John Deere 400

Chris, Once you have it running, it will be really interesting to see how you thinks this compares with a Bolens large frame. The cooling fins on these Kohler K-series twins are a nightmare when the tractor is on grass cutting duty. I am always having to remove the tin and clean the fins on my HT23.

Two thoughts come to mind: - You are sounding more like my wife every day - How can someone with two large frames and lot of really cool equipment say that
  10. I am sure they would look better on my HT23
  11. I would still be running after I heard the first one
  12. I couldn't have said it better, it looks great and the proportions are spot on. I love it.
  13. What safety precautions did you take with the welding? It sound like you might have got James to do the welding while you waited outside

I have a 1010 which the smaller version with a vertical crank engine. They made these tractors from really good steel and as such they last well. Iain
  15. Great machines, I have the older version a 850. Iain
  16. I was looking through some of my WH attachment PDF's last night and I noticed that a hydraulic lift attachment was an option on early WH's and for the 800 you could buy an electric lift option, which used a linear actuator. I have never seen or heard mention of these attachments. It is always good to learn something new, although what worried me was the fact I was reading WH information, clearly this forum is having an impact ;-) Iain
  17. From memory, I thought the 1254 was a tubeframe tractor which uses similar wheels to a WH. I don't think these will fit. Did you mean a 1250 which is a largeframe?
  18. I've always struggled to get good insurance cover. Most are happy to cover one or two machines, but I always get "how many!!!" and "why?" as a response. Much the same response I get from my wife. If anyone has had any company recommendations, I would be interested. Thanks Iain
  19. I am really pleased you are fine and are not suffering any after effects. More people these days are putting UPS batteries within Data Centres to avoid the need for additional battery cooling elsewhere and to increase the efficiency of the Data Centre (PUE). The volatile nature of batteries is often overlooked in the drive for energy efficiency. Iain
  20. Hi Ian, Welcome to the forum. That is a really interesting machine you have. I look forward to following your renovation. It is going to get confusing with all these Ian's, but strangely I am still the only Iain with the name spelt correctly Best wishes Iain
  21. Funny you should say that. I checked last night and I have all the parts I need to make one, just need to find the time. I think it would be a great time saver as the bench can easily be moved to the wood rather than the other way around. Iain
  22. Chris, they look great. Your 1886 will be unstoppable with them on.
  23. This would be a good base for a forklift project, to make something like a mini Moffett Mounty
