factory got a reaction from nigel in Cancelled shows this year
I'm worried about the future of the local engine rally I go to, it was cancelled last year due to the field being flooded, another couple of bad years in a row could finish it off.

factory got a reaction from Wallfish in Tiny Tiger 1 Hp 350 watt, voltage or frequency output governor speed setting?
Good advice, I have a damaged generator here (mentioned in post #2) the governor malfunctioned causing the engine to rev to silly speeds, unfortunately in the process of trying to figure out why, the generator was damaged. The cause was an early all metal governor vane being bent out of shape, it rattled it's self out with vibration from the engine.
I have since scanned & uploaded the later Tiny Tiger manual here (section 4, last one);
I still have an earlier Tiny Tiger manual to upload in the future.
Sounds like someone took the starter apart incorrectly by drilling out the rivet, you should never need to drill out the rivet as it only holds the starter reel bearing in place, the spring & starter cord can be serviced without removing the bearing.

OK thanks for checking, sometimes they did add dates and sometimes didn't.
This is my later 13B Grow Gear trimmer, the handle is different but it has the same plastic gas tank.
The earlier Paramount (re-branded Teles in the UK) hedge trimmers have a very similar gearbox & cutter assembly, but use the vertical round gas tank.

factory reacted to Fishnuts2 in Chainsaw gearbox diagram
I tore it apart and compared it to the parts list, and everything was indeed there. The bearings are much smaller than I thought, given the size of the cover recess for the bearing and thrust washer.
Thanks David!

Thanks David that helped out got all the spacers cut and found some nuts for the top.
The top cracked a little when I tightened the nuts but not bad .
I will live with it for now but still came out ok.

factory reacted to Wallfish in Chip A Saw (Newer Style) rebuid
Yeah, Got'er done. This project gave a reminder of why I don't like to paint. The prep work is tedious and and messy plus after it's done it needs to be handled with care like a new born baby. And the patience needed to wait for it to cure is a problem since I want to always put it back together too quick. The end result is nice to have though.
The first color it was painted was too far off, this color is just a tad lighter than the original paint but a pretty close match. The handle/gearbox cover piece was left original because the decal is complete and in very nice condition. It may get masked off and sprayed but then it'll need bar decals and a nicer bar. I'll find some nicer oil and gas caps for it too.

Do you have one of these saws too Clint?
Yeah, me too. It was better until some over spray carb cleaner smeared the lower left.

Well I've accidentally bought myself a O&R powered mini-bike .
It's one I've not seen before, does anyone recognise it?

A new arrival to add to the collection today
A UK find so no huge postage charges or US parcel service blocking it

factory reacted to Wallfish in Early engine rubber plug caps
Seems many of those rubber spark plug caps disappear just like the cooling baffles do. I have a few engines missing them. Made this one using an old Champion CJ8 plug and a can of black Plasti Dip. This was the first one but think I can do even better by rolling the edge of the first dip down to make a lip before doing the second dip. Anyway, if you guys need some covers, it's pretty easy to make them. It appears more original than the rubber caps you can buy.
Works well for the stop Kill too

factory got a reaction from CNew in Ohlsson & Rice: Type 117 Rebuild
I can't check tonight but I think the rollers from A-20-5-13-7 & A-20-5-16-7 may be the same as "20-5" is coded into both part numbers, 20-5 is the roller originally used in A-27-11.
By the way I checked several packs of A-20-5-13-7 and they all have a waxed strip of 16 rollers, even though only 13 or 14 are needed depending on which service information is correct.

If only one side is damaged then I usually put it in my spares, then later re-use the good half when I find another with the same problem.

factory reacted to Brian Lynch in O&R 13B. (Groomer trimmer)
Dave, the pipes measure 1" O.D. they are thin wall aluminum. The air intake tube is around 39" in length. The fuel tank tube is 32" long. Not sure of the radius used, I need to bring my radius gauges home from work to get exacts. -Brian

The spacers were made to approx 11/16" length, the wide washers are to prevent damage to the cover (two used per screw).
I had to order more screws (#6x32 2" long) as the first ones I ordered were too short, a set of these were sent to Paul for his Aquabug restoration.

Correct me if I'm wrong but somewhere I read you should take this engines apart over a
big pan so you don't loose the parts.
