  1. This is unfathomable to me. I leave my tractors and garage open every day all day, even when I'm not home, I have never even had a key for my house in 20 years. People do not come up on peoples land around here, if they do, they know they may be on a missing persons list that no one looks at.
  2. They make a 3.50-8 tri-rib and the 3.50-8 tube is for that tire. The 4.00/4.80-8 tri-rib takes a 4.00/4.80-8 tube. I wouldn't put a 3.50-8 tube in a 4.00/4.80-8 tri-rib, they're tubes, not balloons.
  3. Its great to see all those different colors on the Bolens Machines. You have a fine collection sir.
  4. You should be able to recover civil damages as well as property damages in court.
  5. Because of the negligence involved, I would consider retaining a Pro Bono Solicitor, or at least use that option towards the insurance company.
  6. Really lucky that you are able to post this and really happy we don't have to hear about an alternate ending
  7. Hated to press the like button on this one. My situation has had even worse results as eFlea has ruled in favor of the buyer even though we do not even know if he is alive, still no contact from him to eFlea, PayPal, or me the seller. He gets to keep a 125.00 engine block for free, eFlea says I did save 25.00 in a return shipping label since he didn't ask for one. Did they think he was going to return it, even if I asked, nope. eFlea also informed me that when I began selling on their site that I agreed to their terms, this being one, buyer always wins. I really want to set up a false name and account and start buying diamonds, or at least Bolens tractors.
  8. I've always used 4.80-8 tubes
  9. Tubes are important and the rating as well, check out the B,C, D rating system as the ply rating system is fairly irrelevant since they don't rate them by plyes, only by ply rated, I know that doesn't make sense, but it is what it is. I have bought both inexpensive and expensive tri-ribs of the same rating and have yet to much difference.
  10. Beautiful! Still sunny and in the low 60s here

    Bolens 850

Makes perfect sense, thanks so much!
  12. It was to his registered eBay address, but eBay's policy is for the seller to always issue a refund. They say they have a seller protection, but that entails video taping the package being put into the box and sealed shut in front of the postmaster or another witness equal to a public notary. Here in the US small claims judgments are pretty worthless unless you want to spend hundreds of dollars worth of time and money to collect, the courts don't involve themselves in those matters. Our legal system, and maybe all legal systems favor the rich and the devious. tomorrow is my day. I wonder if he will make another demand for his refund?I wonder why has not communicated on this matter? This seems very odd.
  13. Thank you Iain, I appreciate the advice and knowledge. The steering is pretty tight on this and it just so happens I rebuilt two John Deere 317 columns not long ago. I plan on going with a taller narrower tire on this D200 so that will reduce stress and wear, but if it is loose it will be more noticeable. I really like this engine and hope to score a HT20 soon as well. EDIT: I did the same thing to your name as others often do to mine, put the "i" before the "a", I fixed it, where is spell check when you need it, lol

I actually have a red deck from a 1556 that I thought might match up to his 850
  15. I try to price my items well below the going rate, because I want to sell them and have them gone, and to a large degree I want others to have them that need them at a reasonable price, but when I get ripped off, it makes me want to hold on to everything and wait until I get offered more money for the parts than they would normally would sell for. I really don't want to do that. The biggest problem I see with any of these problems is that the person you communicate from these auction/shipping companes with is often not much more than a robot and cant or wont be able to help in instances where there truly is a problem. The companies would like you to suffer the problem, not them. These companies view their customers as a back bencher at the House of Commons, when they should treat them like a full member of the court
  16. I had a friend that walked into UPS store with a package that was packed in cardboard, foam, etc from the factory that he wanted to ship to another state. He purchased insurance on the item and they shipped it. They called the following day and said the package was damaged in transit and he said fine, I'll make the insurance claim. UPS said the insurance he purchased was no good and nonrefundable, because UPS did not pack the item. They accepted the package as well packed and sold him the insurance without a waiver. He complained to US corporate and was denied any relief. What kind of deal is that????
  17. Not sure what size it would relate to in the UK, maybe Bonnett. It might be Raphael or Michelangelo
  18. To prove my point, I completed a jigsaw puzzle in one day and it said 2-4 years on the side of the box
  19. Beware to anyone considering selling on that major auction site from the US. I wont mention their name, but it begins with a E and ends in Bay. I sold an engine block and literally minutes after the buyer receives it he files a claim that it and says it was broken. Prior to the sale the customer emails me and asks several questions to determine if it is the same part, as it it turns out they are from the same tractor and he is happy because his engine block has a hole in it. I spend three hours cleaning and inspecting the block before packing and shipment, I include a few extras not listed in the sale like all the connecting bolts, cam gear, and oil pump, and pack it up securely using bubble wrap and foam padding. I sold the block for 50.00 plus 20.00 flat rate shipping. Other blocks like it are trending at 125.00. It actually cost me 26.00 for the shipping as extra parts and packing material has increased the weight estimate, so I am settling for a net profit of 44.00. After he files a claim with the auction site, I email him and ask if the package was damaged in transit and to send pictures of the damaged/broken block. That email and two more subsequent emails were never answered and no pictures were ever sent.. Both eBay and PayPal also requested pictures. That was over three weeks ago and the auction site is still holding my money until the 19th of November. If he still requests a refund anytime before November 19th the auction site will give him the money even without pictures or proof of damage. The auction site also said I was going to be charged 26.00 for a return shipping label if he decided to return the item. I removed my 55 for sale items from the auction site, closed my account, removed my CC and bank account from my PayPal account and closed it. I also filed a fraud report to my Visa card for the amount the auction site and customer owe me. Apparently the auction site has a buyer protection guarantee, but absolutely no seller protection. Their response to me was that losses were a part of dong business. I replied that since they were a partner in the profits they should be a partner in the losses, they declined to shoulder any of the burden. If the customer makes a claim and receives the money back I intend on filing a criminal complaint. I know he isn't sending pictures because his block isn't apart and he can't and/or he is afraid I might have an identifying mark or have taken pictures before shipping, I did.
  20. I recently had an issue with a auction site here in the US. I'll post the issue in off topic so as mot to hijack your thread.
  21. Is this a shipping programme based in the UK? Or is it affiliated with a US auction site?
  22. This has been going around Facebook recently. My field of study for graduate work is evolutionary psychology and it has been not only apparent that not only has the physical size of the human brain been smaller since jst after the Second World War, but also the cognitive level of those that have been born in recent years seems to have dropped significantly. What is perplexing is how intelligent these people believe they are and their inability to recognize a more advanced ability in others. Charles Darwin's work in evolution and adaptation is and has been well known for a long time, however I do not think scientists appreciate how fast these adaptions and change can happen when a species has to do nothing in order to thrive
  23. By the look of the marks of your tire tread in the dirt it looks like the tires are mounted backwards?

    Bolens 850

I may have to pick your brain for info on the 850, a young man nearby has one and he wants a deck from my 1556 and I do not know if it will work or not
