    Another D160

    Looks good Alain.
  2. Just something Chris and I had not seen or heard of before. Guess it fits where the cutter bar goes.
  3. I don't know what Chris will do to keep himself occupied when we finally run out of things to find. And I hope Pam liked the "present" he took home for her. If not it would have made his ears ring if she clonked him with it. Thanks again Chris.
  4. Happy Birthday Iain. Got a present here for you but it will need collecting.
  5. Another visit from the Showman today, helping to move a large pile of scrap wood and metal resulted in another find. Well two to be exact. The main purpose of the move was to try and find the missing Bolens loader forks. Still not found though. After getting wet again, all part of the fun, Chris found these two items not long before we packed up for the day. Made by Allen, Oxford. Green paint similar to Allen Scythes. Is this a spray unit. ? and does it attach to a Scythe. The other find was a Teagle hedge trimmer. Engine turns and whole unit looks fairly complete. I was surprised how heavy this is. Wouldn't like to operate it for too long. Photo's could have been better. Taken in shed with poor light and rain outside.
  6. It's larger than it looks Charlie. Or maybe Chris is extra small.
  7. After finding his way back to John's place today, the Showman's eye's lit up when he spotted my Sears GT16, one of the first "wrecks" to emerge from the undergrowth a few years ago. When told that there was no RED colour option available, his jaw dropped and he went off muttering something about sticking to Wheel Horses and maybe the red Bolens. Just can't please some people.
  8. Sorry to hear that Ian. Hope she gets well soon.
  9. Makes the Showman's log collecting sessions at John's look feeble. His loads were already felled and mostly cut to size.
  10. They won't be junked Richard. Just need time to go through the rest of the tools to see what is still usable before listing here or possibly on eBay.
  11. Same with these three items, and others, that John rescued while helping to clear the workshop of a late friend of his about 15 years ago. As he already had enough tools of his own these extra's were stored in one of the caravans. A lot of these have unfortunately suffered from the damp conditions although some could still be used with a bit of a clean up. Things have now come full circle as we are now clearing John's property, due as most will know, because of his ill health and his need to move to a more convenient location.
  12. Thanks Norm, Koen, and Richard for the reply's. And as seen via Koen's link, the rubber cone is missing from our find. Maybe it's still among the junk in the caravan. Never thought it would be a rev counter. Nothing like the digital one's I have used occasionally at work.
  13. I did wonder if it was some sort of depth gauge. The spindle does appear to have an outer sleeve. It may be jammed. If it is a depth gauge, can't see why it needs 3 flats on the end. And why does it revolve. ?
  14. A few of the many smaller items found during the clear out at John's. Not seen a square like this. Think I can guess it's purpose. Anyone else know. A nice little Dial Gauge. This item must have a use, but what. Turning the spindle, for want of a better description, revolves the inner dial which is geared down. Revolving the dial via the small knob does NOT turn the spindle which has 3 flats ground on the end. The outer dial will not move. Possibly jammed. This and the dial gauge made by Starrett USA.
  15. Will have to see if John can find the S/Turner manual I passed on to him years ago. He MIGHT still have it filed away in his strange storage system.
  16. Was running OK about 35 years ago Chris. You must have broken it.

    BOLENS STASH UPDATE

A few more items recovered from various hiding places which may, or may not, be of interest to someone. A very heavy bench drill. Will need a bit of TLC to make it operational again. Clean up, rewire etc. Approx 30" tall. Fabrex 470 saw bench. Table 16" x 11" which tilts for angled cuts. 8" blade. With untested single phase motor. A Honda generating set. Gas conversion. Engine turns freely via the pull starter. All the spec details can be seen on the photo's. More bits and pieces to be added as and when.

    BOLENS STASH UPDATE

Another heavy lump on it's way to a new home. The second Colchester lathe being moved from John's shed. This move went very smoothly and a lot quicker than expected with a bit of forward planning. A few rollers, a hefty crowbar, a winch and it was on the trailer in no time. A few photo's of the event. Thanks again Philip. We are now getting near the end of finding new homes for John's stash as most of the major items have now gone. Still some reserved items to be collected when convenient, plus the contents of the two small caravans to be sorted. These are mainly car parts, Austin 7 /10 plus numerous other small odds and ends.

    BOLENS STASH UPDATE

Chris is like a sniffer dog on heat. God only knows what he'd find if we let him off his lease. I, and other visitors, had also been in the area where the tires were found countless times without spotting them. He also found part of a Uni-Horse tractor which was sold a while ago buried under a pile of old window frames in the middle of John's lawn ( for want of a better description ). John has a very strange storage system. Also found was another peace offering for Pam. He needs to bring his Track Horse with dozer blade on his next visit. Plenty of undergrowth to clear which could be hiding even more goodie's. Thanks again for the help Chris.
