  1. Sorry David, I missed this but here they are. I don't remember ever seeing this style recoil decal before. Nothing seems any different to make it an "Industrial" engine but it hasn't been disassembled either. And not sure I'm even going to since it has great compression now, the flywheel and all the grooves in the plate are clean. It has definitely been run before but with no build up of debris on the flywheel from sucking in air, it indicates a low hour run time. Think it just needs some overall cleaning and the carb done. The plan is to just clean it up a bit and let it fly it's character as it was used by the LAFD. I was going to paint the grills as the chrome on them isn't the best but leaving it in it's working clothes is the best option for this one IMO.
  2. It's my opinion it would be fine with the new gasket material. Especially for the little one between the carb body and diaphragm as the thickness shouldn't effect anything as long as it's not too thin. The only issue with the others could be the governor touching the exhaust manifold but using 3 instead of 2 gaskets should cure that. Thicker would be better than thinner for that spot. I've used thick cork gasket material in the past for the carb to case gasket and the engine ran fine
  3. Hmmm, David does have that mini bike now so........ Come on David, ride that thing and share a video!
  4. Ha, that's funny as I was think'n the same thing! He must be up to something Yeah, I cheated a little but when the friction wheel wasn't as tight and starting from a dead stop, it chewed a nice deep divot into the tire at that particular spot. It would go better now doing that but it would still be a very slow take off.
  5. Couldn't resist the urge to go out and tinker again after seeing Terry @JUST O&R on that skateboard. That was great stuff and glad we finally wore you down to go out and give it a try. So, Got'er some more friction with a big azz spring and some more tire pressure. It won't carry me up the slight incline that well but gets moving going down. The biggest thing I noticed was my ever increasing bald spot. The ball's in someone else's court now!
  6. Sometime? Now all the video pressure is on you. Looks like Terry beat my land speed record so I'll get the bike tuned for the street and give it another go this weekend
  7. Bravo! I was hoping that challenge would get ya on it. That's good stuff! But I thought you were going stand up on it and do some skateboarding tricks like this. Alright Clint, get your man hole fan out, it's your turn
  8. Easier to just sell the plans and let the other tinkerers have at it but I'll see if I can make a nice pipe bender to more easily reproduce exact copies.
  9. It was hard to stay upright going that slow, hence all the steering back and forth. The wife was laughing when she watched it too but said she would video one so you guys can see the bike better. Maybe I'll try again after getting some better friction but I'm guessing this design isn't for an adult to ride. LoL
  10. You're on a roll again Maybe some day we should all compare ours books and update any missing portions or bulletins. Pretty sure David and Terry have one as well
  11. OK, went for the crazy daredevil ride of a lifetime. Check out the risky off roading over the grass! Youtube was a pita so shortened it to copy directly. Hopefully you guys can view the video but let me know if you can't. Just threw some stuff on it so I could ride it and thought it would be funny. Still have lots to do but doubtful I'll ride it after it's done and painted. Now it's Terry's turn for that skateboard IMG_0659.MOV Had some traction issue with the friction wheel. I'll figure out how to crank that down so it bites into the tire better. You can see it peeling the tire in the pic with all that black on the frame.
  12. Another nice find. Those things have some interesting engineering on them
  13. Take it you found one. You can do your own thread if you want. It's up to you
  14. I'm guessing Chuck was making a jest about something like this, but on a bicycle
  15. HEY, that looks familiar. Certainly an interesting tool. Hope you don't need help on assembly as it's been a long time since taking it apart to ship.
  16. Thanks Chuck! The fan arrived so once time allows it will get cleaned up, refreshed and an engine rebuild. The paint is in decent condition except for the handle so it should clean up nicely. The tank is heavily damaged so that will need to be replaced. There's no signs of an old and or missing throttle control like the one Clint has on his.
  17. NICE! Much better than a bunch of parts sitting in a box Glad to see you back in the restoration game
  18. You can soak that head in a can of carb cleaner to remove the paint. Just let it soak for a while, use a stiff bristle brush and re-soak if it still needs it.
  19. Have had plenty of those over the years and there's a collection of them out there.
  20. YUP! Had to be quick on the draw before you vultures got to it! Just happened to be on here when Chuck posted that.
  21. Sold. Just sent you a PM Or you can reach me by email at uremailing@yahoo.com
  22. I'm interested in it and you don't have to get it running! I know how to do that Please don't squirt starting fluid in it. These are 2 strokes and need the oil in the fuel and ether will most certainly run the cylinder dry.
  23. Bought this one a while back. https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Engine-Kill-On-Off-Switch-Button-3-Wire-Go-Kart-Fun-Cart-Mini-Bike/193149454466?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Originally I thought they just had one light because of Webhead's and his pics. Just waiting to see how close I can get it now before adding more stuff but those lights are fairly cheap. One thing I haven't been able to find is those exact rise type foot pegs. I have some folding foot pegs but they don't have that riser bracket. Got the feeling that's something which has to be made but think it's figured out. It seemed to look right when I was working on it and holding it up to eyeball the scale but looking at the pics after posting them, I need to adjust that frame. The seat is too high from the top of the engine and the seat sits back too far past the rear wheel axle. Think I can cut and lower the front forks about an inch which will take out some of that lower frame rail rise from the back to the front and make it more level to the ground. It doesn't need to be all the way level but that should bring it closer to the way the original is. It'll also move the seat forward, make the engine more plumb and move the fender location closer to the tire. Then the frame will need a little more tweaking the bend to level off the seat since lowering the front will tilt it forward. He He He, Steep hill and no net. Catching net that is as you will certainly be "on the NET."
  24. Forgot to comment on that decal. Never saw one like that and the word "INDUSTRIAL" is quite comical. Those carbs are anything but industrial.
  25. Interesting to see another one of these pop up. Now I gotta find one! @CNew gave some good advice for the air filter and most likely you will need a new diaphragm so the carb can pump fuel. That later carb probably uses the little rubber cup type check valve instead of the steel ball bearing type so hopefully that is still intact. You can check the carb by connecting a clean piece of fuel line and try blowing through it. Air should only pass when the primer button is pushed and stop when it's released. You will need to open up the carb if doesn't.
