nigel reacted to Rayp in Tractor Parts excellent Service
Some time ago I purchased a Transdenser from Kirk Engines.  This replaces the normal condenser and makes timing a doddle with no need to look through holes at hard to see timing marks.  The Transdenser flashes when the engine is running and when my Tractor failed to start recently I noticed that the Transdenser lit but did not flash and I suspected it had malfunctioned.  I emailed Kirk Engines with the problem and Dave Kirk responded by return suggesting the points were the problem but offering to test and replace the Transponder without question if it proved to have malfunctioned.
Dave proved to be correct.  I cleaned and reset the points (which were replaced when the Transdenser was fitted) with WD-40 electrical cleaner, but the problem remained. I, therefore, followed Dav's advice to test the Transdenser which showed that it had not malfunctioned.
I returned to the points, rechecked the gap and cleaned them again with brake cleaner on a piece of paper and I'm glad to say the Tractor finally fired into action.
I thought I would write this post as it is rare to experience such good service and to recommend Kirk Engines if anyone is seeking the Tractor parts which it supplies and many of which are not readily available elsewhere.

Not that the GT14 needs it, but this will end up on the front of bendy - when I finish the hitch arms that I've been making for 2 years

Here you go - the old 5 gallon water tank from the loft - filled with concrete... perfect 100lb weight that once painted red will look factory.

best get that front hitch sorted...

Yes that is the idea I had to sort the front wheels, I just need to find some donor wheels. They remind me of 70's wheel barrow wheels mine measure up at 8 3/4" .

A large box of goodies arrived today from Wallfish in the USA, one and a half Tiny Tiger generators.

With the "spare" engine I had with the correct fittings and having a look in the O&R spares stock, I managed to attach generator to engine.

I was going to make up a base but as I don't have the correct tank I might leave it on the base its on for now...

The second unit needs an exhaust, anyone got a spare one please ?

Both units now on display with their buddies, lol

Wheels are split rims so quite easy to make templates, I might have a petrol tank will look up the workshop, If you pm wristpin he might if you ask him nicely rebuild your old engine  for you, ( he’s the old engine wizard )

nigel reacted to Stormin in Deck change.
The blades on my 42" rear discharge deck are well past their sell by date. They've done a lot of work over the years and not on ideal  ground.  Blunt and worn is an understatement and the deck when mowing has got rather noisy. Bearings are ok so suspect blades out of balance.
So Monday I checked over a 32" deck I acquired last year. This is a Torro one. No play in the bearings so they got five shots of grease. . Blades just needed a tickle.
Popped it on the C-125 with a new belt, started the engine and engaged the PTO. Though the blades spun ok, something just did not seem right. Not as fast as I thought they should for the engine revs. Stopping the engine I felt the PTO. It felt warmish. I guessed slipping a bit so I adjusted the pressure.
Runs great now and I tested it out on one of the lane verges yesterday. Cuts much better than the 42" deck, which wasn't really surprising given the state of the blades. 3rd low instead of 2nd or 1st and at less revs also.
I'll get new blades for the 42" one day.

To reach this point to where it makes a reasonable job it has probably been built and rebuilt a dozen times 👍

Well it’s funny how this is starting to look considering every part of it except the engine has come off the scrap pile, ime quite liking it, now I will make a point this is supposed to look ratty and won’t be up the the standards of the showmans or my previous builds and was never intended to be, oh yes and the steering wheel will be lower 😂
