    JCB Beaver Hydraulic Power Pack.

Have been sorting out some of the engine parts this afternoon. The Recoil starter in my store was lightly beat back into shape then given a small skim of filler to make perfect. I found a brandnew but slightly dinked fuel tank in my one shed(I know you can buy Chinese ones but the profile is different and new genuine Honda ones are horrendously expensive and recently the design has changed slightly aswell). A very light skim of filler was again needed to make perfect. Both have been given a coat of filler primer which once set will be rubbed down. At the bottom of a cupboard I also found this old type badge, again not perfect but if I cant turn up a better one, then at least ive got a pattern to get it reproduced.

    Project "Why Not"

Hi Andrew, yes maybe about half way now... Once I have tacked the last of the hard/big stuff which is the front end steering and brakes, the rest should be fairly easy to sort... But there is a lot of "easy stuff" to get done

    Martin Markham Colt Deluxe

A friend of mine in the vintage tractor world rang the other evening asking if I know anyone who would be interested in a small tractor which was getting in the way in his garage. When he mentioned the make and model the radar went up as there were only 100 of these made (so it's rarer than a Mayfield Merlin) Wendy and I braved the ice and snow/rain/sleet for a short (6 mile) trip this morning to pick it up, it's a Martin Markham Colt Deluxe with a 10hp Kohler in it, these were made between 1965 and 1970 by Martin Markham in Lincolnshire. Also pictured is the brochure that arrived a few days ago.

    Project "Why Not"

It's not a JD wheel, it was just painted the wrong colour at the factory And speaking of strange coloured front wheels, the time had come to cut one of the centers out... The wheel is slightly too large to fit on my lathe, but it will fit on Nigel's lathe with a few tweaks.. A bit of chain drilling and chisel work later.. The inside of the wheel had some extra cutting to make the hole a little larger.. And on the lathe the wheel went. The inside taking shape. A few hours later... And to finish up this small update, a groove being cut in one of the new centers. This will center the new center in the rim

    In the woods today

Ah can't beat a good ole burn up on a cold January morning . It reminds me of being a kid and building a den in the woods then having a bonfire around the den

George, That's superb landscaping there and I am very impressed with the Gutbrod tractor earning its keep. I might have to look into the Gutbrod myself.

    Martin Markham Colt Deluxe

There was a Markham tractor in the Hastings area a few months ago. I was tempted but the seller didn't fully answer my questions or evaded his answers. I was going to get my brother to collect it and store it in his barn had I bought it for collection at a later date. Paul, yours is in better condition than the one in Hastings. A good find. Here's the listing number 361112210236

    1968 wheel horse lawn ranger

well today i managed to squeeze some time in for the ranger work after the cousins left and this took a long time because of all the surfaces you have to sand and then clean but not too long i had a pair primed and ready to go, hopefully more later but i will have to see. james
