I just noticed this very interesting tractor comparison brochure on the auction site, link below. That could be a distinct possibility. But Bolens would say that, wouldn't they.

I agree. Bolens had a nerve to even think they had the better machine.

Bolens called them "Allied Manufacturers". The made attachments that were 'approved' by Bolens to be sold with their tractors. In some cased they were 'universal attachments, like the towable sprayer pictured above, and others were designed to use the Bolens mounting system and PTO drive system. I actually have 2 big 4" binders full of brochures, literature manuals, parts lists, and even some communications between Bolens and the manufactures. It apparently came for the head of the Allied Manufactures department at Bolens. There are letters and bulletins in it signed by at least two different heads of the department.

From what i can see, a few companys made a lot of accessories for the big garden machinery manufacturers so companies such as Wheelhorse sold them to fit their equipment

Found this brochure in a Wheelhorse data book but the tractor looks like a Bolens to me Just noticed that the data book is from Burton Supply Co, Youngstown, Ohio, perhaps OB knows of them ?

Chris, that's a lovely period brochure that. It look remarkably similar to the Bolens LK advertising. The joys of this hobby is collecting the sales brochures, manuals, attachments and the tractor itself.

Just looked in my collection of brochures and found this Don't say anything about a collapsing steering wheel!!

I understand your difficulties Iain, as I'm a 'Southpaw' (Leftie) as well, but try to use many things as a R/Handed person does. I've also decided to go over to Aspen on the infrequently used and small engine machines like Chainsaws & Brushcutters. The Atco Sidewheel will run on it as well...... Still too expensive to run Garden Tractors on it. Would be good if they treated it as a special case and at least removed the Duty Charge on it to reduce the cost and increase it's use.

Digging up an old thread. On Saturday I had the joy of cutting the hedge around our garden which is approx 8 foot high and well over 700 foot long. I hate doing this job because I am left handed and most hedge cutters appear to be designed for right handed people, which results in having the exhaust in my face. I also suffer from sinus problems so I am usually ill for three days after each cutting session. It normally takes me four days to finish the job, which I spread over four weekends. I decided to give this Aspen fuel a try and I managed to cut the complete side of the hedge in one day without feeling ill afterwards. Just about every muscle in my body aches but I feel fine, the rest is just old age. I used a gallon of fuel so it was not a cheap cut but worth it. Next weekend I will get some more fuel and tackle the top. Thanks for the recommendation guys. Iain

Richard, like I said - just about within tolerance for what I'll be using it for. It's not going to be worked hard, but does need to run properly and not haemorrhage oil. Either through drips or burning...

Good to see your progress Norm. I was getting worried that you'll spend more than 2 years to finish this like me on my C-120 . Black look's good. Would nice to also see the Motor Black and a bit of Silver perhaps?............or polished steel !- Keep up the good work and piccies for Chris .

Thanks NIGEL it certainly helped me getting the engine running which I wanted to do before I started stripping the tractor and engine so I knew it ran before I started tripping over hundreds of parts all over my workshop Sort the feedback out tomorrow Where is the best place to find out about shows and sales or any good clubs to join
