Ruston Hornsby VSO size 4 diesel engine and generator
Stormin and one other reacted to hamish13 for a post in a topic
This is in the yard covered up Ruston Hornsby size 4 VSO diesel GEC generator set, I have no idea about the condition but it was running 10 years ago. Does anyone want a great rare restoration project? No its not free I have been offered £2000 for scrap but she needs to go to a good home. The generator is rated at 114amps running at 1500RPM giving 18.5 KW and boy this is a big piece of iron. According Ray Hooley it was sold on 16.4.1940 to Higgins & Cattle Ltd, London W1. I also have a number of single twin three cylinde and 4 cylinder diesel Lister Petters ideal for cement mixers saw benches etc that are on anther topic. Happy to answer any questions. I am near Fishguard west Wales. -
2 pointsThis one isn't as cool as the sickle bar I got a few weeks back but it's still wheel horse and it was a bargain so I'm happy It needs a fair bit of love and attention but it's all there and it's solid. I will most likely spray it with oil and stick it in the shed until I have time to get it back to working order. It also needs a bag, whether you can still obtain these I don't know... Tom

Bolens 1556...home
Triumph66 and one other reacted to HeadExam for a post in a topic
It is a 1556-01 that means it has a metal petrol tank, during the year they made some small changes like a poly-carbonate tank for the 1556-02 and 1556-03 models. The trip was further than I anticipated, by the time we made two extra stops for my co-pilot to look at tractor salvages, it came to about 1125 km round trip. The snow caster was from a smaller model Bolens, but with the weather here in Oklahoma, not a worry, as I am probably going to sell it anyway. It was really the tractor I wanted, I have already acquired the right muffler for it, reversed the rear pull hitch to allow the tiller to raise further, installed a new choke cable that I had for another tractor, changed the oil and air filter. The tractor is 43 years old, only made in 1972 and was the 27th tractor off the line. I also got the original seat, and have much needed new dray link, but for 43 years old this is in amazing shape with the original tires. This is what I collect and want; original well maintained old single cylinder hydros WITH implements. It runs and drive very, very nicely Short video of running tractor: -

really looking good now, all you guys do such a good job on these in years to come people are going to be unsure on whether these are factory builds or not!... cant wait to see who's going to start with the next weird and wonderful horse... always full of surprises -
1 pointAll back together now Norm I had an afternoon on it today, got the hitch all connected up after getting some stainless steel D shackles. I also welded the high - low lever up; it feels so good to have low range back!! Hitch in place: Lever back in place All back together: Back on the bench ready for an engine service and to flush out the transmission in the next few days.. It's getting there now, I also have a plough lined up for it which should be installed in the next few weeks which I can hopefully put to work at Rural past times event. Thanks for looking. Tom

1 pointThanks Norm your right, where there's a will there's a way Thanks Charlie It's tempting to leave WN in its current "rat look", but I think this machine needs a nice paint job... It will be red, but maybe with a few extras Well chaps, the steering is finally sorted and finished apart from a lick of paint, and I'm very happy with how it's turned out in the end It's also nice to get the last of the "big stuff" done and dusted But your going to have to wait for photo's as I forgot to take any yesterday..

1 pointEvening all, I have been clearing out and re-doing my workshop and have finally finished painting the floor and have started moving back in and couldn't resist getting the 312-8 in for some maintenance. On the bench: I am installing a slot hitch so I stole the wire conduit off of my C-141 and installed it on this: Slot hitch in place, I'm just waiting on some small D shackles: I also removed the front wheel and spindles, de-greased them in my new parts washer, and put it all back together Bearings were all OK and the wheel spin much better now and the steering is also better. No pictures of it disassembled but here it is reassembled!! Parts pile growing! I have still yet to do an engine service, replace transmission oil, weld up hi-low lever, finish off slot hitch and whatever else I can remember! Thanks for looking. Tom

Wheel horse 42" sickle bar
Triumph66 reacted to OldBuzzard for a post in a topic
Haban did indeed make a Sickle-Mo for some of the WH models. However, I don't think that the one pictured is a Haban unit. Here are a few pics of the Haban model 414 Sickle-Mo that was for the WH GT14, Electro 12, Charger 10 & 12, and Raider 10 &12. -

IHC LB Stationary Flywheel Engine
Ian reacted to bowtiebutler956 for a post in a topic
Alright, I have videos. I haven't been able to get it running quite right, and it turns out its missing some parts in the mixer. The compensation valve, spring, and pin. There is just a little rusted off nub in there, so I'll be ordering the parts soon, and get it running properly. In the parts diagram below, you can see the parts I'm talking about. I'm still very happy it runs, and here are a couple video's, and pics. Matt -
