Something like this would make the job pretty easy :D -
3 pointsHi Iain, yep there is a fair few feet of box section is the frame, it should keep it from twisting during launch I'm not sure about how to hold the wiring yet, but I do have a Wheel Horsey solution for holding the brake lines in place. I'm trying to think up something witty to say about the Triumph air filter, but it's just to early in the morning for but brain to work fully Thanks Charlie. Thanks mate, she's getting there now Hi Norm, the engine and rear axle will be going gloss black, the rest will be normal WH colours. To add a bit of sparkle some of the engines ally bit's will be polished up Well, what a week that has been! My step daughter has been seriously ill for a few weeks resulting in her being rushed into hospital for an emergency operation last Monday. Since then she has been staying with us and quite rightly so my workshop time this past week has not really been much! The good news is Lisa is now recovering quite well, and life is slowly returning to normal for both us and Lisa What workshop time I have had this week has been taken up with welding.. The inside of the chassis where it meets the front axle has been plated up giving it a smoother look and thus changing my plans on how the front end will look.. The outside of the same bit of chassis could of been welded up and ground smooth, but it would never look as smooth as the inside bit.. So a cardboard template was made and some WH panel off cuts were dug out. Resulting in.... The very front of the chassis under the axle needed tidying up, and as the whole build has a Hot Rod feel to it I thought the chassis needed the same touch.. Three bits of plate and a bit of box tacked together. Which go here.... I would of welded them on but early Wednesday morning I ran out of welding gas.. I wondered why the last of the gas vanished very quickly and found a welding burn hole through the rubber pipe! So watch out for flying sparks guys and girls! New gas didn't arrive until late Thursday afternoon so instead of welding I did some cutting.. Eight plates marked out on some 5mm thick steel. These would of been easy to make had I not wanted the curves! It wasn't until yesterday that I got the chance to weld all the new bits on.. Lot's of welding and lot's of grinding the welds smooth, but it was worth it

Vinnetrow and one other reacted to Stormin for a post in a topic
When at Newby Hall last year, we were camped about 1/4 mile from where our exhibits where. Having three and only being able to drive one at a time, walking back and forth got to be a bit of a bind. So for this year something had to be done to save the poor old legs. They're not as young as they used to be. It's the rigor mortis setting in early. So this morning I had a scrat about. One Westwood front axle and wheels, some 2" box section, surplus ladder racks and the result you can see below. Still ramps to make yet. -

Silloth Green Day.
HeadExam and one other reacted to Stormin for a post in a topic
Today has been Silloth Green Day. This is held every year, with various attractions along the garden fete lines. There is also a small vintage section. So after being asked to go and exhibit for two or three years now, I succumb, loaded the C-81 and the C-121 this morning and off we went. Turned out not a bad day, though somewhat chilly at times, from the wind blowing, in from the Irish sea. I remembered to take my camera, so a few photo's for your perusal. -

SOLD & Collected today -
1 pointI have only gone and bought another vintage piece of machinery, not a wheel horse this time though, I didn't expect to see one so close to me but I had to have it! I wonder if you can guess what it is Except Iain, you are exempt as you have already seen it Tom

1 pointJust trying to get the ball rolling on here so here's some pics of a 2 seat custom tractor used to cruise around the engine shows. Made of spare Wheel Horse parts and uses a pull start Kohler M8 for power.

you had an MTZ? cool always liked them, nice and simple sovjet engineering -
1 pointYour 1254 looks great Andrew. It will be good to see it up and running It is rare that a WH get to tow a Bolens, it is usually the other way around Pleased you didn't post the picture that really would be letting the side down. Iain
-
1 pointI dropped off the 1254 this morning at Daniel's house. Here are some photos of my Bolens in its new surroundings and some photos of Daniel's rare Wheel Horse. It's an electronic one apparently. And yes that's a tow rope to tow my Bolens down to his workshop. Childishly, he got a photo of me and my Bolens being towed behind his WheelHorse.

Alot of those fenders are modified -
1 pointThis was at a tractor show, anyone know any specifications, horsepower/weight etc, about this beaut. Thanks, Alain

1 pointNo air, no blocked breather, nothing internal as I have swapped over the pistons, cylinders and heads but everything looked ok anyway, I swapped over the fuel feed today so the smoky cylinder side gets the fuel 1st but still the same, only thing I can think of next is the lobes on the cam for the injector, cant see it being that but what else to check.

Project "Why Not"

Fantastic work Ian, heavy on the grinding discs and ears I imagine, glad I'm not in the workshop next door with all that noise going on. It's gonna look just great with a coat of paint on it and real professional mate -
1 pointI'll get a formula for you. I used a industrial enamel. I'm not sure whether they used white to make the color or a pastel tint base, but I will let you know. Industrial paints use different tint types than house paint or even other architectural oil base alkyds. One a side note these industrial enamels are high in solids and take a good amount of reducer, I'm fairly sure most of the paints over there are low V.O.C.s which reduce at a different rate.

I looked into making one a few years back, i had one i used for cars but oviously it was to big so i ended up making a small recovery crane -
1 pointJust happened to see this pic on the WHCC site. Pic is from the WH show when I was demonstrating the hoe in the parade.
-
1 pointThe original was sold at the big Wheel Horse show in Pennsylvania a couple years ago to the president of the WHCC. I kinda miss it so I decided to build another one close to original as I can. Hope to have it done by the end of June so I can take it to the big WH show to see it's older brother. Here's a pic of the progress so far. Got the lowered front axle done, most of the frame welded up, most of the offset steering and the firewall.

1 pointThought up the colour scheme yet, Ian?

1 pointIt's surprising just how much metal you have in that frame. The panels do a great job of covering it. Are you planning to weld on some tabs for holding the wiring and brake pipes? You should have used Triumph rather than MG filters, it would have been faster then Iain
