And Now For Something Totally Difference!
pmackellow and one other reacted to Triumph66 for a post in a topic
You are all on the right lines. It's a Montgomery Wards Squire 10 based on the Simplicity. 101 Landlord. It starts, runs and stops and it also came with a mowing deck that will need some attention. I like the fact that it's complete and it's all original. The steering wheel shape is just so cool. -

Bolens Husky tractor

I was really struggling with that picture until you guys posted the obvious answer. It's a very convincing picture and it is very easy to be fooled into thinking the Bolens is being towed. Iain -

Cub Cadet 70

Auto Culto was as many of you know a brand of walk behind machine built by Allen & Simmonds in Reading, Berkshire. The lift that Ewan and Tom have was more than likely used to allow Auto Culto produced attachments for the Cub Cadet and other 4 wheel tractors. I imagine that with the influx and increase of ride-on machines Auto Culto saw an opportunity to still be relevant in the attachment business which had a lot less overhead and headaches.I understand there being a lot of Wheel Horse related equipment over in the UK as there is a factory in Belgium being, and I can see Cub Cadet as International Harvester had English and French lineage, but I'm surprised not seeing more John Deere equipment. I'm not surprised in seeing Bolens equipment as you folks seem to know a well built machine when you see and use one. It seems Mr. Howard was so enamored with them, he added his name to the machines so Like David Brown we could suppose there was a Howard Bolens, lol. The Rear Tool Bar, Moldboard Plough, and Potato Lifter in Ewan's literature is definitely Allen & Simmonds Auto Culto equipment. The original lift may have also came with a cross bar for attachments that didn't have outside pins, but without a chain over, or to, the top "stinger" or one point lift, I'm not sure how you would lift the Plough or Potato Lifter, which would be necessary. On the Auto Culto MK2 and Deluxe's this was accomplished by a bar attached to the implement -

You aren't fooling anyone with that pic. It's very obvious that what appears to be a tow strap is a piece of steel bar stock painted tan, and the Bolens is really pushing the Wheel Horse :yankchain: -

1 pointMy Bible is using something akin to metric in the form of hectares, dinars, rubles, heck I don't know. I just need the dimensions of an Ark, say about 10 percent the size of Noah's. We have already received 17 inches of rain this month and just received over 3 inches in the last 2-3 hours, with over 6 inches forecast before midnight and maybe that much tomorrow and Monday as well. My wife and I have formed a bucket brigade and have moved about 1500 gals in 5 gallon buckets since 7 pm. It is coming in under our sun porch door and threshold, at an alarming rate, it rose from outside the sun room door to the inside sliding door (about 15 feet and 6 inches up) in less than 20 minutes, After about 90 minutes of baling water by filling 5 gallon buckets and going through the house to the front side of the property we were able to reduce the water level substantially. I have used heavy plastic and bricks/pavers on the outside door, but it is still entering in weep holes in the brick that is supposed to allow water out, but because the water in the backyard is over 6 inches deep the weep holes are now a point of entry. I have now plugged those holes and am having the wife bail the rest of the water out of the sun-room while I take time to think of other options. There is a limit to how much water we can put out the front door, because A) it just runs around the house in a few minutes and the water is starting to get near the front door as well. So the idea of a Ark came to mind, not one that floats, but more of a coffer dam around the house, built of wood, lined with plastic. I should go see how the wife is doing before I go to bed, it looks like I will need to be well rested for the morning.

Both of those tractors were red, well thee 2210 was red and white, but the 725 was red. I'll be more specific and say Montgomery Wards Garden Mark Squire 8 EDIT: Well I was close. Are you the proud owner of a Simplicity made Montgomery Wards Garden Mark Squire 10 tractor? They are considered to be the best designed tractor in America. -

The forklift earning it's keep.
slf-uk reacted to OldBuzzard for a post in a topic
Yes, it does have the PS option fitted. Here's a short walk around vid of it that I took as it sat at the dealer's place before they delivered it to me. It had been sitting there for about 4-5 years, and all it took to get it running was a new battery, and a bit of cleaning of the points. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5FLOzvJNnU -

One of my 1250s has developed a starting problem and I was needing it closer to the garage so I can work on it. I fired up the 1886 forklift and it made short work of the job. Bear in mind that the mast is only rated for 750#, and that the shipping weight of a 1250 is listed as being 975#. Now add the weight of the fluids and the dual wheels and one could safely say that the 1250 is a tad over 1000# as it sits. The 1886 forklift didn't even grunt. Just picked it up and away I went :D -

Another Show A Bigger Display
nigel reacted to usedtoolman for a post in a topic
I just got back from the Memorial Day weekend show in Bernardston MA. The attached picture shows my display of O&R engines which has grown a bit from the previous posting. I ran out of room and had to leave some of the larger pieces at home. Great show. Lots of sun. No rain. Chance to visit with old friends. Everybody is amazed at the vatiety of tools powered by the O&R engines. Jim -

1 pointIt will be a while until I can see if it fits as I have removed my hitch on the cub but I will measure the clevis on the plough and see if it would fit the CC lift. Ewan
-
1 pointCub Cadet didn't make the lift that I put pictures on of, the part that they called the 3-pt hitch is the casting that features in the brochure below, this came with my tractor. The pictures that Alain posted is what the Cub Cadet and Brinly 3-pt hitch was like. There is some cool implements isn't there. Ewan

1 pointToday has been Silloth Green Day. This is held every year, with various attractions along the garden fete lines. There is also a small vintage section. So after being asked to go and exhibit for two or three years now, I succumb, loaded the C-81 and the C-121 this morning and off we went. Turned out not a bad day, though somewhat chilly at times, from the wind blowing, in from the Irish sea. I remembered to take my camera, so a few photo's for your perusal.
