Yesterday I was lucky enough to get offered this machine, My friend has had it for years, but has never really used it as he has no where to drive it! I spoke to him about it for a while and then went over to see it after I finished college. as soon as I got there I fell in love with it I knew I had to have it! It needs a little tidying up, lots of prep and painting, a few pieces of wiring sorting out and a decent fuel tank! oh, and its got one slow puncture, The bonus is, it runs drives, and is very fast! big smiles on my face! I haven't discovered any makers name yet, but the engine has castings HONDA and 450cc.... It wouldn't fit down the side of the house! so had to take it through the field out the back!

    Yellow Mower Challenge!

Reference to my previous on the Villiers Engine, the Clutch housing came off ok. It was on a Taper. Packed all the bits away for that, as it will cost time and money that needs to be spent on this Mower and other things. The Cylinder from John/Alan's Donor Mower was taken to the Media Blasters today in the hope it will clean up enough and get someone local to see if it can be sharpened up. If so , at least I can get the Mower working. No luck or response on the other one still. The Grass Catcher is a dilemma for me, as it needs some attention. The current condition is useable, but I suspect it would be better to bring it up to a standard like the Mower. May look a bit odd otherwise. The receipt for it when purchased new- I can obtain new Jade coloured Rot proof Canvas and replace the rusted steel rod frame ends , while keeping the galvanised base plate as it is very good. Would bring it back to looking newish ?.... I shall see how it goes.

Just dug this out from John's stash. Have been trying to see what the engine was for years, but buried too deep. Now I know. A hand push sprayer with the engine driving a small pump. The two spray arms rotate to the horizontal position. Looks complete apart from a petrol tank. I have now removed the engine for a clean up and a better look when time allows.

    BOLENS STASH UPDATE

John and I had a good day today with Mr Showman who came to collect a van load of goodie's. As with all of our visitors, he had a good sniff around and kept spotting and loading things which he hoped Mrs Showman wouldn't see when he arrived home. Just in case Mrs Showman did spot his latest haul and was about to give him an ear bashing, he also loaded a collection of unusual bottles as a peace offering. A few pics of the load and not a Bolens in sight. Thanks again Chris.

    Project "Why Not"

Evening chaps, not much to report. A few parcels arrived today, one containing brake adjusters and the other brake shoes.. Fitted.. Though I think whoever designed drum brakes needs a good talking to.. Horrible things to put together! The inside of the drums got a de-glaze as well for good measure. The good new is the rear brakes now work rather well.... I've not looked at the front brakes yet as I may well have to move both master cylinders to fit some steering in! Fit some steering in??? Well, yes.. The other parcel that arrived today was this small steering rack from a Aixam 751/500 micro car. With a bit of narrowing of the outer arms it will fit between the front wheels nicely, but the only way to connect it to the steering wheel is run the column down the right side of the engine which should be interesting with brake gubbins and pedals in the way.. Don't worry Mark, she will be drivable for your visit next Monday

New addition to the O&R / Webb collections

It does have the petrol tank, the base under the engine is the tank. I agree keep it together, there can't be many of these left due to its size, its certainly the first O&R with a pump that I've seen in the UK, the pump I have was bought from the US. David

    JCB Beaver Hydraulic Power Pack.

Ive not had the best of days. After checking the forecast I went into work just gone 5am to get the frame for this beaver and the Compact sprayed up. The Primmer went on great, but for some reason the top coat must of had a contamination in it because it reacted badly, so I had to strip all the paint off including the primmer. Some new top coat has now been ordered. Next I started stripping down one of the hammers. The diaphragm that apparently never fails has started to brake up (nearly £100 on its own!) and Ive discovered that there is 3 different sizes of piston, and I had the seal kit for the other 2. However wanting something to go right I applied the decals to the fuel tops and the recoils along with new starter cords and handles on the 2 I hadn't yet changed.
