After finding this last week and thinking that must be it now, whats the chances of finding another plough ? Well today i was almost in the same spot and the digger bucket caught something metal ( wheel weights i thought ) only another plough . as Norm was the first to ask that his name be put on the next one thats what we did, and put it on his list for the Newby delivery. -

1 pointFinally getting back to this project. Spent the day cutting down the axle tubes. Sorry, forgot to take photo's. I was able to cut the hub off the tube, shorten the axle and then sweat the hub back on again. It still needs to be fully welded also. Half shafts are going to be sent to my local machine shop to be shortened. They will be cut and then machined mortice and tennon style, sweated together and then a sleve welded over the joint.

1 pointGot my front hubs today, very happy with how they turned out. Total cost of all parts and machine work £60. Now that i can measure the width of the front axle i can make a start on narrowing the rear axle. The Vitara axle has a offset diff so i need to remove 280mm from one axle tube and 320mm from the other. Once cut i will add a sleve to strengthen the tube and the half shafts will be sent out to be shortened. Need to go now and get a lend of a slide hammer to get the half shafts out and then the cutting can begin.

1 pointAnother part ticked off the list today, think its from a Fordson Dexta. The centre of the seat was completely rotten so had to be cut out and repaired. Still need to get a centre bolt and seat spring.

1 pointIts amazing what you can do with two tyre irons, two pair of vice grips and a can of silicone spray. They went on alot easier than i thought, thankfully. Can anyone guess what im going to use this for ?

1 pointGot a few more parts today. 8inch trailer rims for the 3 rib tyres. Bearings for the front hubs. And the wheel studs, nuts and grease nipples. Off now to the local engineering shop to get the hubs made.
