    Bolens HT23

Yesterday Joseph wanted to create a video of our Bolens HT23. I need to make some belt guards for the deck and then he can cut the grass for me. Iain

    Front Ball Hitch

The tractor I intended to use as a shunter was the C-125. That's the main worker and won't be going to any shows. Now I made two mistakes when making the hitch. (1) I should have left mule drive pulleys on. No real need to remove them really and I wouldn't have had to change them over. (2) I used the C-121 when making the hitch and it fitted grand. Unfortunately, when fitted to the C-125, as the bonnet/hood protrudes further to the front than the earlier C series tractors, it was not long enough. So a simple mod was made as seen below. The turf tyres on the C-125 are much better on the gravel, though can slip a bit with two tractors on the trailer. Once the rear wheels are on the concrete all goes well. Being facing forward I can see clearly down the side of the trailer and if I lean over to my right, I can see the trailer wheels under the trailer. When in position there is just 4" 'tween trailer and the articles stored along that side. Tractors are loaded ready for a small local shown next Sunday I may attend.

Not likely. I might get a parking ticket.

Hi all, Before I start I would like to say I am more or less a fibreglass novice, I have done some basic car body repair jobs before but nothing fancy, and this is just for fun. I do not claim to be a master fibreglass worker/molder or even a good one However I wanted to see if I could build a Westwood grille (the type that was used from the Gazelle to the early T and D series tractors). These grilles look pretty cool in my opinion and I wanted to see if I could recreate one out of fibreglass. So I needed a mold, and given I have lots of amateur experience with concrete I decided there's no kill like overkill and I would use that for the mold (cast?). So to start off I needed to use a spare grille I have as a base, and I covered it in tin foil with pritt-stick. I am happy to say this resulted in no damage to the grille after I removed it. Then it was time to build up the concrete mold, using a mixture of 4 parts sharp sand, and 1 part cement powder, and using screws and nails and scrap metal to increase the strength. The mold is now finished, and I will post a picture of it below.

    Westwood Grille Fabrication (Fibreglass)

Where I started work there was a fibreglass department. The moulds were made of wood and smeared with silicone grease I think. It was a while ago. Another way would be to make a mould using the original as a mould for the mould. If you follow me.

    Bolens HT23

I am not sure if I have introduced my HT23 on here before. I bought the tractor in 2009 and I mainly use it for grass cutting duties Last year I lifted the deck and one of the deck lift bolts broke, I then managed to rip up the wood threshold on the door of my workshop trying to drive it in with the deck dragging on the ground. I have been a bit busy so it has taken me until now to get around to fixing it. First I remove the old lift bolts, looks like someone has been here before as they should not be made out of M12 threaded rod I then pulled one off my HT20 so I could see what they should look like I then made some replacement parts then I made a quick frame to hold the parts in place for welding I even gave them a quick coat of paint before fitting I can't believe what a difference it makes, the deck lift has never been this good. Another job done. Iain

@?!$#!? Finally finished the chain drive and tensioners after a few attempts. however after 10 minutes of playing and getting more articulation the chain still rode up over the flange bending the tensioners and twisting the whole intermediate shaft its so so jammed that it stopped me dead and I can't take the tension off...
