Hi just joined up and though I'd say hi. On the American forums as collect lawnboys and though I would see how many others over here in the UK have them. have a few including a 1962 8220 automower, 1962 hobby Gardner, 1965 Loafer, 1967 21" deck with loafer mount, and various others from the 70's and 80's mainly. Is there anyone else out there in the UK with them?

    Wheel Horse RJ-58 Restoration

I was home from uni this weekend so I finished some last minute jobs ready for its first outing next month. I applied the rest of the decals and made a temporary belt guard out of some mesh, ill make a proper one when I have some more time. Had the tractor running for about an hour with no problems so hopefully we wont have any problems at Newby Hall.

I have wanted one of these tractors ever since I saw a picture of one online, so finally I have one I managed to find a person who imported tractors for a living, about a year ago I asked him if he could find me a panzer. A couple of months ago he did and a deal was done, it took five weeks to cross the Atlantic Ocean from the tractor originally being sold in Illinois. On Saturday me and Dad drove up to shropshire to collect it from his Farm. I must say I am very pleased with it. Here are some pictures. As you can see it has had some painted applied in an odd fashion, and I knew the original paint was underneath. So a few hours of light sanding etc I managed to get the end result with a light coat of oil to make it shine.

Nice one. Never seen one of rider mowers in the flesh before. Have you got a deck for the loafer? im hopefully having a box from the states arrive later this month with a 1970's lawnboy battery electric mower and a full tool set for the hobby Gardner. Planning to get another load together in the next few mounts with bits like a blade for the loafer if there are any parts you are needing.

I love that Panzer and the patina is just right. Will you leave it as it is or restore it? Having bought my Bolens 600 from Ohio there is something special about getting a genuine Yank GT from over the Pond.

A nice assortment as usual Paul. Like the Vauxhall Victor and the Lawn Bug. I had a Victor FB estate years ago. Simple to work on, not like now.

Thats very nice Harry Do you subscribe to Lawn and Garden Tractor magazine from the USA ? LAGT has had some Panzer articles in the magazine in recent times, and I'm sure they would be very interested to see that one has made it "across the pond"

    Economy tractors

Economy tractors was a name Engineering Products Company (EPCO) used for a specific type and style of tractor. The Company began producing the Economy garden tractor in 1946, but also sold a line of tractors called Country Squire (blue and white) that may have been sold by Montgomery Ward. Produced in Waukesha Wisconsin they company goal was to build the best garden tractor in the world, but soon after changed the name of the company to Power King to belie fears or implications that the tractors were cheap or not built well. Power King/Economy was known for its all gear drive and optional double Borg-Warner transmissions. Besides Economy they were also sold under the name of Jim Dandy tractors, Country Squire tractors, and were very similar to the Red E tractors as well. Powery King became the brand name for the entire line in 1977. Power King was sold to Support Services International in 1990 and production moved from Waukesha to Beaver Dam Wisconsin. In the mid 1980s Power king redesigned the tractor to resemble more traditional styled garden tractors of the era and offered both gear drive and hydrostatic transmissions as well as single cylinder and twin cylinder models. They also produced the UGT2000 and UGT2200 (Ultimate Garden Tractor), for Snapper; this was a very large Garden Tractor with 15 inch rear wheels and 10 or 12 inch front wheels that was bigger than the Bolens HT23 or the John Deere 400. Production continued until the late 1990s when Power King was sold again. Eventually the Power King assets were sold to Yazoo-Kees and production ended. Mission Manufacturing now owns the rights to Power King and supports the tractors. i have most of the manuals for the Economy/Power King tractors and implements. The wheel weight on the tractor in the pictures look like International Harvester weights, not sure. the slot behind the shifter lever is where a second transmission is mounted. The loader appears to be a very well built homemade model at least the cylinders and spool valve are after market
