Like everyone else I've suffered from old fuel just not making things run right if at all.
But I've also experience of leaving my quad for 3 years in the garage and turning on the fuel and it just starting!

I need to paint some stuff, but at zero degrees outside it's gonna have to be inside. So firstly I need to warm the piece to be painted and the paint.
Before spraying outside for 30 seconds and back in to dry
At least it's a bit of progress, hopefully missus is done cooking for the night
It does sound wrong using engine oil, but times have moved on. Things have improved and engine oil on modern cars is used for the gearbox/diff as well....
My C101 has 10w40 in the transmission too for the last 4 years. Only downside is it leaks out faster
Most Toro distributors will get you the filter for around £17 which is cheaper than the us.
Make sure you use the proper one though. There's some videos and lots of pics on the gt14 thread on redsquare
Joe, originally it will have been dextron auto fluid.
Clean it all out, add a new toro or napa filter and refill with regular 10w40. That's what I did with my GT14
